Role: Financial Analyst
Reports to: Financial Planning and Analysis, Manager
Location: Toronto, Ontario – Hybrid
Description:
The Financial Analyst supports the Finance and Accounting team by preparing financial reports, performing data analysis, assisting with reconciliations, and supporting budgeting and forecasting activities. This role helps ensure the accuracy of financial information and provides analytical support for business decision-making. The successful candidate will work closely with Finance, Accounting, Accounts Receivable, and operational teams to maintain reporting integrity and support ongoing financial processes.
Job Duties:
The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, performance metrics, and KPIs.
- Perform variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior year results, identifying key financial and operational drivers.
- Support the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting cycles.
- Develop, maintain, and improve financial models, reports, dashboards, and planning tools.
- Analyze revenue, expenses, profitability, and business trends, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
- Partner with business leaders to support financial planning, performance management, and decision-making.
- Extract, validate, and analyze financial and operational data from ERP and reporting systems.
- Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and management reporting solutions.
- Support reporting automation, process improvements, and data accuracy initiatives.
- Assist with month-end and year-end activities, including reporting and analysis requirements.
- Support strategic planning through scenario modeling, sensitivity analysis, and business case evaluations.
- Prepare ad hoc analyses and participate in special projects as required.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes:
- Analytical skills with a knack for numbers
- Understanding of accounting principles
- Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
- Hands-on experience in operating spreadsheets and accounting software (Net Suites Oracle)
- High Proficiency in English and in MS Office, including Power Bi and Power Query.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Education and Experience Required:
- Successful completion of post-secondary education preferably in bookkeeping, accounting or related field or Completion of two years (first level) of a recognized professional accounting program (ex. Chartered Accounting, Certified General Accounting) or equivalent working experience
- 2-4 years of accounting experience is required
Compensation and Benefits:
- Compensation: $70,000 per annum
- Comprehensive health benefits through SunLife, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), as well as participation in the company’s RRSP matching program. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
