GENERAL PURPOSE SUMMARY
Analyzes financial and budget data on key areas impacting bank operations and prepares complex financial and regulatory reports for bank’s internal and external audiences adhering to critical deadlines by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities:

- Analyzes financial data and prepares accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Bank, GAAP, SEC) adhering to frequent and critical deadlines.
- Prepares complex regulatory reports for management and Board of Directors in accordance with federal regulatory reporting requirements.
- Assists in preparation of supporting schedules for federal and state tax accruals and compilation of the bank’s federal and state tax return information for internal and external tax accountants’ review.
- Reviews accounting (GAAP and FASB) and tax (State of Alaska and IRS) regulations to maintain accounting adherence to prescribed methods and suggests internal accounting process changes to modify the recording and accumulation of financial information for reporting purposes.
- Under general direction of the financial management prepares financial forecasts of bank earnings by assisting business units in developing and monitoring rolling budgets and forecasts; identifies and analyzes critical business performance results/trends and assists in business performance improvement recommendations.
- Assists internal/external staff auditors in completion of quarterly reviews and audits.
- Provides guidance and training to other Financial Division staff members, reviewing various internally prepared reports for accuracy and variances and cross-trains to provide coverage within the Funds Unit and performs cash management duties as necessary.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations and complete all compliance training on time.
- Knowledgeable of and comply with bank policies, procedures, laws and regulations that apply to you and your job.
- Maintain customer confidence and protect the bank’s operations by identifying and protecting confidential information.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or finance and three years related banking, financial industry, or accounting experience; or five years related banking, financial industry, or accounting experience; or equivalent combination of education/training and experience. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and tax reporting.
Preferred:
Knowledge of banking regulations, structure, and accounting systems; public accounting and audit experience.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to keyboard 35 wpm and operate a 10-key calculator by sight required. Windows based word processing and spreadsheet software experience required. Must have strong analytical skills and be able to work in an organized and efficient manner and on multiple projects with a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and follow through.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management and the public
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING SKILLS:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract variables.
