The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis reports to the CFO and is responsible for leading financial analysis that improves business decision making across ThriftBooks. The role will develop financial models and insights related to revenue growth, profitability, pricing, margin, capital investment, regulatory changes, and new business opportunities. Through strong partnership with leaders across the organization, this role will connect financial and operational data, develop meaningful KPIs, evaluate risks and opportunities, and provide clear, actionable recommendations. The Director will also lead forecasting, budgeting, long-range planning, and executive and Board reporting, with an emphasis on helping the business understand not only what happened, but why it happened and what we should do next.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Collaborate with executives to provide analysis and evaluate strategic initiatives
- Work alongside executive team to establish a strategic roadmap and growth targets
- Partner with business leaders to frame decisions, evaluate alternatives, and recommend actions based on financial and operational insights.
- Create financial models, including forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning
- Create internal & external executive reporting documents including board, close and other management presentations
- Analyze monthly results and/or trending data to support the monthly estimate and include risk and opportunity assessments
- Determine the appropriate processes, methodologies, variables, and modeling techniques to develop and deliver forecasts. Develop reports and monitor metrics for forecasting
- Translate financial and operational data into actionable insights and recommendations that improve business decision making and drive profitable growth.
- Build outstanding and effective relationships with cross-functional teams
- This position directs all Financial Analysts and Senior Financial Analysts.
TRAVEL: Up to 10% domestic travel
LOCATION: This is a hybrid role with in-person days at our Tukwila, Washington corporate office.

BASE SALARY:
$160,000 -$200,000/yr. This range reflects the good-faith hiring base salary range for this position. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications such as skills, experience, and education/training.
Qualifications
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance required
- 8-10 years of experience in an analytical role in finance, accounting, or business management
Competencies We’re Looking For
- Experience with financial analysis, modeling, profitability analysis and/or auditing techniques
- Experience analyzing financial and operational data to identify issues, trends, risks, and opportunities, and translating findings into clear recommendations for business leaders
- Advanced excel and SQL skills
- Strong organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated to learn new concepts and participate in new projects
- Passion for coaching and mentoring others
- Expertise to manage projects to on-time completion with confidentiality and integrity
