About Our Client: Our client is a well-established manufacturing organization located in Western New York.
About the Position: The Cost Accountant will support the Finance team by providing cost accounting, pricing, and profitability analysis that helps drive strategic business decisions. This role partners closely with Finance, Operations, and Sales to evaluate product costs, maintain pricing data, support forecasting activities, and develop reporting that improves visibility into business performance. The position offers a blend of analytical responsibilities, ERP maintenance, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop pricing analyses for new and existing products while evaluating cost and profitability to support business decisions.
- Partner with the Cost/Operations Controller to prepare product cost analyses and financial recommendations.
- Create and maintain finished goods and intermediate item records within the ERP system.
- Support regular commodity cost reviews and provide analysis for interim and quarterly pricing decisions.
- Assist with periodic price updates and maintain customer and product pricing within the ERP system.
- Prepare and update activity-based costing (ABC) models and support material cost forecasting.
- Compile data used to establish annual material standards and product cost assumptions.
- Generate customer profitability reports and other financial analyses for management.
- Develop pricing support materials, including graphs, charts, and customer justification documentation for the Sales team.
- Assist with return-on-investment (ROI) analyses for capital and operational initiatives.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts, special projects, and other finance initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3-5+ years of experience in cost accounting, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with activity-based costing (ABC) methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and communicate financial data.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with ERP/accounting systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
- CPA and/or MBA preferred but not required.
Salary: $70,000 - $81,500
