Job Description
Position Summary
The Corporate Controller oversees general accounting functions, financial reporting, payroll oversight, budgeting support, audit coordination, and revenue cycle collaboration. This position plays a critical role in providing financial analysis and insights that support sound decision-making and advance CareFlite's mission and strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Serve as a trusted financial advisor to the CFO and executive leadership team.
- Provide financial analysis, trend reporting, and insights to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Support organizational growth initiatives, operational improvements, and financial system implementations.
Accounting & Financial Operations
- Oversee general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
- Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements and management reports.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable regulations.
- Develop and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard organizational assets.
- Support cost containment and operational performance improvement initiatives.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist with annual operating budget development and monitoring.
- Analyze financial forecasts and business trends to support leadership planning and decision-making.
Revenue Cycle Oversight
- Collaborate with outsourced revenue cycle partners to ensure accurate billing and collections.
- Monitor revenue performance and investigate variances or discrepancies.
Audit, Compliance & Reporting
- Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and lead the annual audit process.
- Coordinate regulatory, internal, and external audits.
- Support preparation of IRS Form 990 documentation.
- Monitor changes in accounting standards and healthcare regulations and implement necessary updates.
Payroll, Accounts Payable & Benefits
- Provide oversight of payroll processing and accounts payable operations.
- Support administration of employee benefit and insurance programs.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting and finance team members.
- Establish performance expectations and support professional development initiatives.
- Build strong partnerships across clinical, operational, and administrative departments.
- Foster collaborative relationships with vendors, auditors, and external stakeholders.
Work Schedule & Environment
Schedule
- Primarily Monday through Friday during standard business hours.
- Flexibility required during month-end close, budgeting cycles, audits, and reporting deadlines.
Overtime
- Periodic overtime may be required to meet operational, financial, and regulatory deadlines.
Work Environment
- Professional office environment.
- Hybrid work arrangements may be available in accordance with organizational policy.
Travel
- Minimal travel expected.
- Occasional local or regional travel may be required for audits, meetings, training, or organizational events.
On-Call
- Not routinely on-call; however, availability may be needed during critical financial reporting periods or urgent financial matters.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
- Progressive accounting and financial leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, and audit practices.
- Experience with healthcare finance and a solid understanding of revenue cycle operations.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing accounting and finance staff.
- Advanced analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with financial systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Required Certifications
- Current and active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
- Ongoing Continuing Professional Education (CPE) required to maintain licensure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare, EMS, hospital, or nonprofit healthcare environments.
- Experience with ERP implementations and financial system enhancements.
- Knowledge of nonprofit accounting and IRS Form 990 reporting.
- Experience supporting executive leadership, boards, and finance committees.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Frequent use of computers, keyboards, and standard office equipment.
- Ability to occasionally lift or carry items up to 15 pounds.
- Vision sufficient to review financial reports, spreadsheets, and computer screens.
- Hearing sufficient for effective communication during meetings and telephone conversations.
- Work performed primarily in a climate-controlled office environment.
