Corporate Accountant opportunity in Miami
Our client is one of the top consulting engineering firms specializing in civil and transportation projects seeking to hire a Corporate Accountant to join their accounting team, this position will support the Finance Controller and the Accounting Department. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assist on cost proposals to include preparation of financial documents required for new bids and proposals, budgeting, and other financial projects
· Generate accurate, timely GAAP-compliant income statements, balance sheets, and statements of cash flow on a monthly basis
· Provide support to Controller on financial operations and controls, including but not limited to the areas of A/P, A/R, vendor payments, payroll expenses, cash management, revenue recognition
· Actively participate and support the full month end close cycle and other ad hoc reporting as required: reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, AR, Assets, Cash accounts, AP (401K), month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closeouts
· Collaborates with other divisions and corporate departments to gather financial information for monthly close
· Manage and assist with ad hoc queries related to related companies (taxes, audits, certifications, bank deposits, reconciliations)
· Facilitate annual third-party audits
· Assist with inquiries from internal customers (including Executive Management)
· Proactively works directly with team members to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the financial close and consolidation process
· Remain current in latest accounting principles and subject matter
· Perform additional assignments, as directed by the CFO and the Financial Controller
Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar
· 5+ years' experience in accounting or finance
· Architecture and Engineering industry experience preferred
· Experience on computerized accounting software and an aptitude for system improvements and developments. Preferably Deltek Vision (VantagePoint)
· Experience working with and producing GAAP-compliant financial statements
· Experience in developing budgets, cash flows, financial analysis, cost controls and schedules
· Requires excellent communication, an ability to think critically and creatively, an attention to detail and a team-oriented attitude
· Quick learner and critical thinker who can re-assess new strategies and opportunities
· Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with senior management
· Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports and statements
· Proficient Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel
