Position Description:

Key Responsibilities:

Month-End & Financial Reporting:

• Prepare and post month-end journal entries, accruals, and other accounting adjustments.
• Complete assigned month-end closing activities within established timelines.
• Prepare and review general ledger account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Review financial results for completeness and accuracy and investigate unusual or unexpected variances.
• Support management reporting and provide financial information as required.

• Maintain accounting records for corporate and related entities.
• Ensure corporate expenses, allocations, and transactions are accurately recorded.
• Review and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts.
• Monitor outstanding accounting items and ensure they are addressed on a timely basis.
• Maintain appropriate supporting documentation for financial transactions and account balances.

• Record and reconcile intercompany transactions across entities.
• Investigate and resolve intercompany differences.
• Ensure intercompany balances are properly supported and aligned between entities.
• Assist with intercompany allocations and entries as required.

• Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Prepare budget-to-actual and month-over-month variance analysis.
• Investigate significant variances and provide supporting explanations.
• Assist management with financial analysis and ad hoc reporting as required.

• Assist with HST reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Support the preparation of information required for corporate tax filings and other regulatory requirements.
• Maintain organized documentation to support compliance and reporting requirements.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders to provide requested financial information.

• Prepare working papers and supporting schedules for year-end.
• Coordinate and respond to audit requests within assigned areas.
• Ensure supporting documentation is complete, organized, and readily available.
• Assist with resolving audit questions and outstanding items.

• Follow established accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen accounting processes, reporting, and documentation.
• Assist with standardizing processes across entities where appropriate.
• Support improvements to the use of Newstar and other financial systems.
• Help ensure accounting processes are documented and consistently followed.

• Work closely with Property Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury, and other Finance team members.
• Coordinate with operational departments to obtain information required for accounting and reporting.
• Communicate outstanding items, discrepancies, and potential issues proactively.
• Support the Finance and Accounting team during high-volume periods, month-end, year-end, and audit.

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• CPA designation or progress toward a CPA designation is considered an asset.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably within real estate, development, property management, or a multi-entity organization.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting.
• Experience working with multiple legal entities and intercompany transactions is an asset.
• Experience with Newstar or a similar ERP/accounting system is considered an asset.
• Strong Excel skills.
