We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of a growing real estate company.
Reporting directly to the CFO, this role offers the opportunity to lead a strong accounting function, improve processes, implement technology, and provide meaningful financial insights that help drive business decisions.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with a passion for building efficient systems and leading teams.
What You'll Do
Lead the Accounting Function
- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end close.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures.
- Manage the annual budgeting and forecasting process alongside leadership.
Partner with the CFO
- Support strategic financial initiatives and special projects.
- Assist with cash flow planning, financial analysis, and business planning.
- Provide financial insights that help leadership make informed decisions.
Improve Systems & Processes
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and increase efficiency.
- Implement automation and technology solutions where appropriate.
- Develop reporting tools and dashboards that provide meaningful visibility into business performance.
Manage Key Relationships
- Coordinate with lenders, investors, banks, auditors, and outside advisors.
- Support financial reporting requirements and compliance obligations.
- Assist with financing activities, audits, and year-end processes.
Lead and Develop the Team
- Manage and mentor accounting staff.
- Create accountability, structure, and operational excellence within the department.
- Build scalable processes that support continued company growth.
What We're Looking For
- Significant experience leading accounting operations.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management.
- Experience managing accounting teams and improving processes.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with executives and ownership.
- Experience within real estate, property management, multifamily, or a related industry is highly preferred.
