Duties & Responsibilities:

Lincoln’s Controller, India is responsible for overseeing the India organization accounting operations, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, and managing a team of accounting professionals. This role requires analytical skills, attention to detail, and strong leadership skills to support the company's financial and strategic goals while maintaining accurate financial reports. This role reports to Lincoln’s Global Controller with a dotted line to the local India business leader

Key Responsibilities

• Accounting Operations Management
  • Manage daily accounting functions including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets.
  • Monitor accounting activities to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies.
  • Develop and implement accounting processes and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure proper documentation of accounting transactions and maintain organized financial records.
  • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly closing processes.

• Financial Reporting
  • Lead preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with India GAAP and US GAAP.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  • Provide detailed financial reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Oversee the financial consolidation of India legal entities.

• Tax Compliance and Regulatory Oversight
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of quarterly and annual statutory and tax filings.
  • Coordinate with external tax advisor(s) and global tax to ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations.
  • Actively monitor cash across the India legal entities to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, tax regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Implement and monitor internal controls to prevent errors, fraud, and financial risks.
  • Monitor for changes in accounting standards and industry regulations to ensure compliance.

• Audit Coordination
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors during annual audits.
  • Lead team in preparation of audit schedules and provide necessary documentation to auditors.
  • Ensure timely resolution of audit findings and recommendations.

• Leadership and Team Development
  • Build, manage, mentor, and develop team to enhance performance and professional growth.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Ensure staff is trained on new accounting standards, tools, and best practices.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

• Budgeting and Financial Planning
  • Collaborate with the finance team to develop and manage the annual budget.
  • Track actual performance against budgeted goals and report variances.
  • Support strategic planning initiatives by providing financial insights and analysis.
  • Assist in forecasting future financial trends and preparing cash flow projections.

• Strategic Collaboration
  • Partner with other departments to provide financial insights and guidance.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to align accounting practices with organizational goals.
  • Support business expansion efforts, mergers, or acquisitions with financial analysis and due diligence.

Qualifications:

• Education and Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) required

• Experience
  • Minimum 10-15 years of increasing accounting experience, with 3–5 years in a managerial / supervisory role.
  • Experience with financial reporting, multi-entity consolidations, and compliance with India GAAP and U.S. GAAP
  • Familiarity with financial reporting, external audit processes, and internal controls.

• Technical Skills
  • Solid proficiency in accounting software (ie: NetSuite, Blackline, Stampli, LeaseQuery, Workiva and Concur).
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (e.g., pivot tables, complex formulas, financial modeling).

• Soft Skills
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to present financial data to non-financial users
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
