Our client, a growing manufacturing organization, is seeking a Controller to lead accounting operations while serving as a strategic business partner to executive leadership.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working cross-functionally throughout an organization and wants to play an active role in business decision-making. The successful candidate will oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, cash management, cost accounting, and process improvement initiatives across multiple related business entities.
The organization is looking for a hands-on leader who combines strong technical accounting skills with operational awareness, analytical thinking, and the ability to collaborate effectively with departments throughout the company.
Position Summary:
The Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting operations while providing financial insight and analysis to support business growth and profitability.
This role will partner closely with executive leadership and operational teams to improve financial visibility, strengthen reporting, enhance cost accounting practices, and support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee all accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, cash management, and general ledger activities.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable financial reporting requirements.
- Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
- Coordinate annual audits and support tax preparation activities.
Financial Analysis & Business Partnership
- Provide financial analysis related to profitability, productivity, operational performance, and business initiatives.
- Partner with leadership to support pricing decisions, capital investments, and strategic planning efforts.
- Develop meaningful financial reporting and performance metrics.
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities to improve business performance.
- Participate in leadership discussions and provide recommendations based on financial data.
Cost Accounting & Inventory
- Strengthen manufacturing cost accounting processes.
- Improve job costing and profitability analysis.
- Support inventory management and inventory control initiatives.
- Analyze product, project, and operational profitability.
- Partner with operational leaders to improve financial visibility throughout the manufacturing process.
Cash Flow & Forecasting
- Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts.
- Monitor working capital performance.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Assist with collection efforts and accounts receivable management as needed.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and mentor accounting team members.
- Establish accountability, training, and development plans.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching.
- Foster a collaborative and service-oriented culture within the accounting function.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Manufacturing accounting experience.
- Strong financial reporting and general accounting knowledge.
- Experience leading or mentoring accounting staff.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Preferred
- CPA or CMA designation.
- Cost accounting experience.
- Multi-entity accounting experience.
- ERP implementation or system conversion experience.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $120,000 - $140,000
