Our client is a fast-moving team of tech builders and operators with deep industry experience and a bias toward action. As they continue to scale, they are hiring a highly skilled and detail-oriented finance leader to build a financial foundation, strengthen reporting and controls, and partner with the executive team on strategic decision-making.
The Role
As Controller / Director of Finance, you’ll lead the end-to-end accounting function and financial reporting, while also playing a critical role in strategic planning and growth. This is both a hands-on and leadership role: you’ll ensure accuracy and compliance while building scalable processes to support growth and executive decision-making.
Suitable candidates must have strength in system implementation and automation.
Responsibilities
· Lead all core accounting operations, including GL, AR/AP, payroll, consolidations, and revenue recognition
· Own and improve monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
· Deliver timely, GAAP-compliant, investor-ready financial statements
· Manage tax compliance, regulatory filings, and audit preparation
· Oversee cash flow, runway, and scenario modeling to support growth decisions
· Design finance processes and systems to scale with ongoing expansion and increasing transaction volumes
· Partner with the executive team on financial planning, performance insights, and capital allocation to drive growth
· Manage relationships with external partners (audit, tax, banking, insurance, payroll, etc.)
· Design and implement internal controls, accounting policies, and scalable systems (NetSuite or Sage experience)
· Build, mentor, and scale a lean, high-performance finance and accounting team
Qualifications
· CPA designation required
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s/MBA a plus)
· 7–10 years of progressive experience, ideally combining public accounting and industry
· Controller or senior finance leadership role in a high-growth SaaS, fintech, or venture-backed tech company
· Experience supporting investor reporting, and board-level presentations
· Strong command of GAAP, internal controls, and accounting operations in scaling environments
· Systems mindset, with experience implementing or optimizing ERP/finance platforms (NetSuite or SAGE)
· Advanced Excel skills and comfort with data analysis
· Excellent communication skills and ability to partner cross-functionally
· Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable navigating ambiguity
