Controller

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead financial reporting and recordkeeping, including the general ledger, cost allocation, periodic statements, management reports, and required filings.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasts, cash-flow projections, banking relationships, investments, and debt management; recommend improvements as opportunities arise.
• Coordinate annual audits and tax reporting with internal and external resources; maintain records consistent with GAAP and government requirements.
• Design, monitor, document, and continuously improve internal controls, finance policies, procedures, and process flowcharts.
• Prepare cost, ratio, trend, and comparative analyses of business, department, and operating performance for senior management.
• Coordinate finance-related systems, including HR/payroll, fixed assets, expenses, and cash management, in partnership with IT.
• Evaluate customer creditworthiness where material risk exists and proactively communicate financial or operational risks to management.
• LEADERSHIP & BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP
• Advise department managers on accounting entries, reporting, analysis, finance policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure timely distribution of accurate reports and maintain effective working relationships across departments.
• Serve as liaison with external auditors, insurers, banks, regulatory authorities, and trade professionals.
• Support major Company goals, participate in appropriate meetings and committees, and complete special accounting projects.
• Protect confidential Company information and uphold the organization’s professional reputation.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field.
• Five or more years of high-level accounting experience; three or more years of supervisory experience preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of accounting and finance practices, financial reporting, internal controls, governmental requirements, auditing, and related IT functions.
• Strong leadership, communication, analytical, technical, project-management, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to use applicable financial systems, hardware, and software; broad understanding of an entrepreneurial business environment.
• Manage the preparation of detailed reports on project financial health for executive review.
