POSITION DESCRIPTION/PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
Reporting to and collaborating with the President & CEO, this position provides strategic and operational leadership for all financial management, IT, and facilities functions across the organization. The CFO works closely with program directors, the executive leadership team, and the Board of Directors to ensure alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, and financial goals and health. As a member of Hired’s senior leadership team, the CFO also serves as the staff lead for the Board Finance Committee and is a member of the Operations and Executive Committees of the Board.
This is a hybrid role based in the Twin Cities. The CFO will be expected to be in the office three days per week.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Accounting and Finance
• Strategically lead the accounting department to ensure the proactive maintenance and continuous improvement of all accounting systems, processes, and functions.
• Demonstrate strong GAAP technical accounting expertise while providing both strategic oversight and hands-on support for accounting operations.
• Develop, implement, and maintain effective internal controls and financial procedures, including the periodic review and updating of accounting policies to ensure compliance with funder requirements.
• Prepare and deliver timely, accurate financial statements and management reports for government funders, foundations, agency and program leadership, and the Board of Directors.
• Oversee annual audits and ensure the accurate and timely filing of tax returns and related compliance documentation.
• Partner with program and advancement directors to prepare financial information and supporting materials for grant proposals, budgets, and reports.
• Manage the grant financial monitoring process and collaborate with program staff to prepare financial reports and support documentation for monitoring visits.
• Develop, implement, and maintain cost allocation methodologies and processes aligned with best practices and Federal, State, and municipal funding requirements.
• Lead, supervise, and support the Accounting Manager through performance management, employee development, operational oversight, and recruitment of new staff.
• Develop and maintain accounting systems that provide accessible, accurate financial information and support strategic planning and budgeting efforts.
• Develop, implement, and maintain cash flow forecasting and planning processes to ensure adequate availability of funds.
• Lead treasury management activities, including oversight of cash management, investments, and organizational assets.
• Manage banking relationships and collaborate with financial institutions to optimize banking services, including credit lines and loans.
• Prepare quarterly forecasts and conduct financial analyses to provide operational insight and support organizational planning and decision-making.
• Partner with the President & CEO and Board of Directors to develop and maintain a financial strategy that supports the organization’s mission, goals, and long-term health and sustainability.
Information Technology (IT)
• Lead the IT department in establishing and maintaining procedures, systems, processes, and administration while identifying and implementing continuous improvements.
• Develop and maintain a productive working relationship with Hired’s contracted third-party IT service provider
• Lead, supervise, and support the IT Support Specialist through performance management, employee development, operational oversight, and recruitment of new staff.
• Assess the Hired’s technology infrastructure and develop a strategic IT roadmap that supports organizational operations, security, efficiency, and long-term growth.
• Oversee IT equipment inventory and maintenance contracts.
Planning, Policy and Strategy
- Lead the annual budgeting process in partnership with the President & CEO and Board Treasurer, including the development of budget assumptions, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
- Participate in organizational strategic planning, policy development, and operational decision-making.
- Represent Hired with financial institutions, auditors, government agencies, foundations, and other external partners.
- Oversee facility leases, insurance administration, purchasing policies, IT equipment, and related operational contracts and services.
- Support the Board Finance Committee by providing financial insights, analysis, and recommendations regarding operational and strategic priorities.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to improve organizational processes, cross-functional collaboration, operational efficiency, and data-informed decision-making.
Team Management
- Develop, lead, and mentor Accounting/Finance and IT team members while fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Promote cross-department collaboration to ensure financial and technology systems support organizational goals and operational needs.
Candidate Profile:
Education and Certification/License Credentials
- Bachelor’s Degree required, with preference for a CPA/CMA, MBA, or other advanced financial credentials.
