- Develop and execute a comprehensive financial and operational strategy aligned with EOC's mission, strategic plan, and long-term sustainability goals
- Serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), contributing to organization-wide decision-making, cross-functional initiatives, and strategic planning sessions
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance staff, setting clear performance expectations and fostering professional growth that supports both individual career goals and organizational objectives
- Build a high-performing finance team through ongoing coaching, training, and succession planning
- Partner with the CEO on organizational strategy, translating long-range vision into actionable financial plans and resource-allocation decisions
- Prepare and present accurate, timely financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annually in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Produce the Monthly Scorecard and other financial analyses as required by EOC leadership and the Board of Directors
- Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that track financial health, operational efficiency, and program performance; report trends and variances to the ELT and Board
- Manage organizational cash flow, including short- and long-term cash-flow projections and strategic fund transfers to optimize liquidity and interest earnings
- Lead preparation of the annual organizational budget in close collaboration with department and program staff; prepare long-range revenue and expense forecasts as needed
- Promote budgetary accountability across all levels of the organization through one-on-one guidance, group training, and accessible support
- Collaborate with program managers to monitor individual program budgets, track variances, and support corrective action
- Coordinate and oversee the annual independent audit, including preparation of audit schedules, collaboration with external auditors, and timely resolution of findings
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax obligations; oversee accurate and timely filing of the IRS Form 990 and all related schedules
- Maintain compliance with GAAP, Uniform Guidance, OMB Circulars, and all applicable regulatory and funder requirements
- Conduct a high-level organizational risk assessment annually and integrate findings into a quarterly project framework; identify and execute one to three risk-mitigation initiatives each year in partnership with EOC staff
- Oversee the organization's insurance portfolio, ensuring adequate coverage across general liability, property, directors and officers, and other applicable policies; manage renewals and claims
- Report on the progress and outcomes of compliance and risk-reduction efforts to the ELT and Board
- Direct treasury operations, including management of bank accounts, investment accounts, and cash positions; coordinate with the CEO and Board Treasurer to execute fund transfers and optimize returns
- Collaborate with the CEO, ED and Board Treasurer to review and refine the investment policy, procedures, manage the relationship with provider on investment decisions made on behalf of EOC
- Support the Audit/Finance Committee and the Investment Committee of the BOD, coordinating meetings, setting agendas, and preparing materials
- Oversee grant compliance across the organization, ensuring that expenditures, reporting, and documentation meet funder requirements and federal/state grant standards
- Review and provide financial guidance on organizational contracts, leases, and agreements to safeguard EOC's fiscal interests
- Manage vendor relationships related to financial services, banking, auditing, insurance, and investments, negotiating favorable terms and ensuring service quality
- Serve as a liaison among the BOD, EOC staff, and external partners, fostering cohesion, transparency, and open lines of communication
- Communicate fiscal policies, procedures, and performance results to staff at all levels, ensuring organization-wide understanding of financial stewardship and budgetary responsibilities
- Engage in active problem-solving and relationship-building to ensure clear, accessible information-sharing throughout the organization
- Establish, maintain, and continuously improve internal controls across all financial processes to safeguard organizational assets and ensure data integrity
- Partner with IT leadership to strengthen the organization's cybersecurity posture as it relates to financial systems, data protection, and regulatory requirements
- Identify and implement improvements in financial systems, technology platforms, and workflows for greater efficiency and accuracy
- Partner with HR leadership to insure accurate payroll functions, ensuring accurate processing, proper tax withholding, benefits accounting, and compliance with wage-and-hour regulations
- Deep knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, Uniform Guidance, and federal/state grant compliance
- Strong analytical and strategic-thinking skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proven ability to collaborate across functions and present to executive and board-level audiences
- Working knowledge of treasury management, investment oversight, and insurance administration
- Understanding of HR/payroll operations, internal controls, and information-security principles as they relate to financial systems
- High integrity, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 30 semester hours in accounting
- Seven or more years of progressive experience in leadership roles in accounting, finance, and budgeting; nonprofit experience strongly preferred
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing a team, with proven alignment to EOC's core values
- Proficiency in financial reporting systems, ERP platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) and/or CPA designation or CPA eligibility
- Experience partnering with a Board of Directors and its financial committees
- Background in enterprise risk management, grant compliance, and organizational change initiatives
- Familiarity with nonprofit cybersecurity frameworks and internal-control best practices
- Valid Driver's License required or the ability to be present to meet at various locations, and times as required

- Hybrid – 3-4 days per week in downtown Denver office location, remainder from employee’s home
