Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Enterprise Finance Transformation & Integration Mandate | Alberta
This is not a traditional CFO role.
Next International Inc. is engaged on a confidential executive search for a Chief Financial Officer within a multi-entity industrial services organization undergoing significant organizational transformation.
The mandate is focused on building enterprise-level financial leadership, strengthening financial governance, and creating greater visibility, discipline, and accountability across a group of operating companies.
The Opportunity
The organization is evolving from a historically decentralized operating structure toward a more aligned, disciplined, and scalable enterprise model.
As part of this evolution, the organization is continuing to develop its governance, enterprise leadership, and operating model while preserving the strengths and capabilities of its individual businesses.
The CFO will play a central role in shaping the financial foundations required to support this transition.
The successful executive will help:
- Establish enterprise-level financial governance, reporting standards, and performance visibility in partnership with operating company leadership
- Strengthen financial consolidation, reporting, planning, and forecasting across multiple operating companies
- Provide financial leadership around treasury, working capital, capital allocation, bonding, and surety requirements
- Partner closely with operating company Presidents to support informed decision-making and improve financial and operational performance
- Strengthen financial controls, audit readiness, and Board-level reporting
- Evaluate and advance financial systems, processes, and organizational capabilities to support long-term growth
- Support strategic initiatives, including potential acquisitions, integration, and enterprise development
- Build and develop the financial leadership and organizational capabilities required to support an evolving enterprise structure
This is a builder mandate requiring strong financial expertise, commercial judgment, operational credibility, and the ability to influence across an evolving leadership structure.
The Profile
This opportunity is best suited for financial executives who have:
- Held CFO or equivalent senior financial leadership responsibilities within complex, multi-entity, or project-based organizations
- Demonstrated experience building, transforming, or integrating financial functions and enterprise-level capabilities
- Worked closely with operational leaders in industrial services, construction, engineering, or related project-driven environments
- Strong technical expertise in financial consolidation, project accounting, treasury, working capital, and financial governance
- Experience with bonding, surety, letters of credit, and the financial complexities of project-based businesses
- Exposure to Canadian and U.S. financial, tax, and reporting requirements
- Built and developed financial teams, systems, and processes to support organizational growth and change
- Balanced enterprise-wide financial discipline with the operational realities and needs of individual businesses
A CPA designation is required.
Of particular interest are executives who have personally helped build, transform, or integrate financial functions, rather than solely maintaining established corporate structures.
The successful candidate must be equally comfortable operating at the strategic, Board, and operational levels, bringing the judgment and influence required to build alignment across senior leadership.

This search is being led confidentially by Next International Inc.
The position is Alberta-based, with relocation expected within six months of appointment.
