Position SummaryThe UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, founded in 1975, is a National Cancer Institute ( NCI )-designated comprehensive cancer center. The Center’s mission is to reduce cancer occurrence and death in North Carolina and the nation through research, treatment, training, and outreach. UNC Lineberger’s Clinical Trials Office ( CTO ) is a centralized resource that supports the clinical research efforts of Lineberger investigators, primarily through the design and conduct of therapeutic clinical trials. The CTO provides administrative, regulatory, data management, and study coordination services to investigators throughout the development, approval, and implementation processes of protocols conducted at UNC and its affiliate institutions. The CTO is responsible for protecting the safety of patients participating in research, ensuring the quality of the research, and safeguarding the interests of the University. It also furnishes protocol-related information to health professionals and to the community at large. The Financial Analyst supports the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Clinical Trials Office by managing the financial components of clinical trial activation. This position is responsible for reviewing, developing, and negotiating complex clinical trial budgets and payment terms for studies funded by industry sponsors, federal agencies, and non-profit entities. The role requires close collaboration with faculty investigators, clinical research staff, sponsors, and University administrative offices to ensure that study budgets accurately reflect protocol requirements, clinical operations, institutional policies, and sponsor expectations. This position serves as a key resource in the clinical trial activation process by analyzing study-specific financial requirements, identifying budgetary concerns, resolving funding and payment term issues, and supporting timely study start-up. The Financial Analyst ensures that budgets and payment terms are financially sound, compliant with applicable University requirements, and aligned with Clinical Trials Office activation timelines. The position also interprets and applies institutional policies, sponsor requirements, and external guidance related to clinical trial finance and research administration. In collaboration with offices such as the Office of Clinical Trials and the Office of Sponsored Programs, this role supports compliant, accurate, and efficient financial management of clinical trials during the activation process.Work ScheduleMonday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, remote
