Accounting and Billing Specialist
Position Summary
The Accounting and Billing Specialist is responsible for managing billing processes, accounts payable, and school bus contract billing. This role ensures accurate and timely financial transactions while maintaining compliance with company policies. The individual also serves as a backup for payroll processing and supports other accounting functions as needed. This position requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Prepare and process billing for school bus contracts, charter services, and other transportation operations
- Manage accounts payable, including coding, entering, and reconciling vendor invoices
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of payments to vendors and service providers
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation for auditing and compliance purposes
- Serve as a backup for payroll processing to ensure continuity in employee compensation
- Collaborate with the HR and Payroll Coordinator on payroll-related tasks as needed
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including reconciliations and reporting
- Respond to billing and accounts payable inquiries from internal staff, customers, and vendors
- Assist with other finance and administrative functions as directed by management
Education, Experience and Skills:
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
- 2–4 years of experience in accounting, billing, or accounts payable/receivable
- Familiarity with payroll processing is preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
$25 - $28/HR
