Position Summary
CVS Health is seeking a strategic and results-oriented finance leader to serve as Associate Vice President, Medicare Advantage CFO. Reporting to the Vice President, CFO Medicare, this role serves as the senior Finance leader supporting the Medicare Advantage business and is responsible for financial strategy, performance management, forecasting, bid governance, strategic decision support, and long-range planning across the Medicare Advantage portfolio.
The Associate Vice President, Medicare Advantage CFO partners closely with Medicare business leaders and enterprise stakeholders to drive business performance, support key strategic decisions, and advance growth and profitability objectives. This role provides integrated financial leadership across Individual Medicare Advantage, Group Medicare Advantage, and Integrated Medicare products and plays a critical role in shaping business strategy, influencing investment decisions, and delivering financial results.
As a key member of the Medicare Finance leadership team, this position offers significant visibility across the organization and serves as a trusted advisor to senior leaders within Medicare and CVS Health. The role directly leads two Executive Directors and provides leadership across a broader organization through direct, indirect, and matrixed relationships.
Major Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary Finance partner to Medicare Advantage leadership, providing financial insights and recommendations that influence business strategy, growth, and performance.
- Lead financial planning, forecasting, reporting, performance management, and long-range planning processes across the Medicare Advantage portfolio.
- Identify risks, opportunities, and performance improvement actions that support financial and operational objectives.
- Provide financial leadership and governance for Medicare Advantage bid development, pricing activities, strategic investments, and growth initiatives.
- Partner with leaders across Product, Sales, Operations, Actuarial, Network, Clinical, and Stars organizations to evaluate opportunities, assess tradeoffs, and support data-driven decision-making.
- Develop executive-level analyses, presentations, and recommendations for senior leadership and enterprise decision-making forums.
- Lead and develop a high-performing finance organization through direct and matrix leadership, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Advance talent development, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness across the Medicare Finance organization.
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years of progressive experience in finance, FP&A, strategic finance, healthcare finance, consulting, or related disciplines.
- Demonstrated success leading financial planning, forecasting, business performance management, and strategic decision-support activities.
- Proven ability to influence business strategy and operational outcomes through financial analysis and executive partnership.
- Experience leading high-performing teams within complex and matrixed organizations.
- Strong financial acumen, business judgment, analytical capabilities, and executive communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across multiple functions and leadership levels.
Preferred Qualifications
- Healthcare, Medicare, managed care, insurance, or related industry experience.
- Experience supporting large and complex P&L organizations.
- Experience with pricing, bid development, strategic investment analysis, business performance management, or growth strategy.
- MBA, CPA, CFA, or other advanced business credentials.
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$157,800.00 - $363,936.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
