Job Description:
Copia is seeking an Associate, FP&A to work alongside the Corporate Finance team to help shape financial strategy and business planning, directly influencing our growth in the renewable energy sector. The ideal candidate will be responsible for working at the intersection of planning and reporting, gaining meaningful exposure to the accounting, technical reporting, and capital markets side of the business as the Company scales.
The Associate, FP&A will report directly to the Director, FP&A and work closely with Copia’s asset management, energy markets, legal, and finance teams in an individual contributor capacity.
Key Responsibilities
- Budgeting and Reporting: Help prepare monthly budget-to-actual reporting packages and surface the insights behind the variances, supporting the annual budget, monthly forecast reports, and quarterly board materials.
- Financial Forecasting: Help prepare and consolidate monthly and quarterly financial forecasts that inform strategic decision-making.
- Financial Reporting Support: Partner with the Accounting team on the monthly and quarterly close, assisting with the preparation and review of consolidated financial statements, supporting schedules, and disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP (or IFRS), and helping reconcile reported results to management reporting.
- Operational Finance: Support the Asset Management team in developing, tracking, and reporting on the Company's renewable assets from test power through the project life cycle.
- Capital Analysis: Assist in forecasting the Company's capital structure, including the debt/equity portfolio and debt financing at both the consolidated company and project level.
- Financial Analysis Support: Assist in preparing ad-hoc financial models and forecasts that highlight the risks and opportunities associated with potential investment decisions.
- Data Management: Maintain and update financial databases and systems, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of financial data.
- Work closely with other departments to gather financial data and insights and ensure alignment with the Company's financial strategy.

Minimum Qualifications
- 1+ years of professional experience, in financial planning & analysis, accounting, or a combination of the two, preferably in the renewable energy industry
- Public accounting or a mix of public accounting experience is a plus
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP or IFRS, with hands-on exposure to the preparation or review of financial statements
- Experience with technical accounting research or the preparation of financial statements and footnote disclosures
- Exposure to a public company reporting environment, including internal controls documentation and structured reporting deadlines
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
- Demonstrated financial modeling skills, paired with analytical rigor and attention to detail
- Proven experience with Microsoft Office, including advanced proficiency in PowerPoint & Excel
- Familiarity with ERP and consolidation or reporting systems
- Experience with project management software
- Ability to work in the Dana Point, CA, Salt Lake City, UT, Lake Oswego, OR or Phoenix, AZ office a minimum of 3 days per week
- Ability to travel up to 25%
