JOB SUMMARY: The Assistant Controller serves as a key accounting and finance partner, working closely with the CFO to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the Company's financial reporting. This position is responsible for leading the month-end close process, maintaining the general ledger, performing financial analysis, supporting budgeting and forecasting activities, and coordinating with external CPA firms for audits, compilations, and tax preparation.
This role requires a strong technical accounting background, deep understanding of general ledger activity and financial statement relationships, and the ability to identify issues, research solutions, and implement process improvements. While this position does not have direct reports, it serves as a senior resource within the accounting team by providing guidance, training, and support to team members.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Lead and support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
· Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
· Review financial statements and general ledger activity to identify discrepancies, unusual trends, coding errors, and opportunities for improvement.
· Research accounting issues, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
· Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger and chart of accounts.
· Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities, including variance and trend analysis.
· Develop and maintain financial metrics, dashboards, and management reports for executive leadership.
· Serve as a trusted partner to the CFO by providing financial analysis, reporting support, and insights into business performance.
· Prepare financial reporting packages and support analyses for leadership and ownership.
· Collaborate with operational and departmental leaders to ensure financial data accurately reflects business activity.
· Support operational projects and strategic initiatives by providing accounting and financial expertise.
· Coordinate and serve as the primary accounting contact for external CPA firms during audits, compilations, reviews, and tax preparation engagements.
· Prepare audit schedules, reconciliations, supporting documentation, and other information requested by external auditors and tax professionals.
· Track and manage fixed assets, including acquisitions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation.
· Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of accounting operations and internal controls.
· Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to accounting staff and serve as a technical accounting resource for the department.
· Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
· Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience with significant responsibility for month-end close and financial reporting.
· Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, and internal controls.
· Advanced understanding of general ledger accounting and financial statement relationships.
· Experience supporting audits, compilations, and working directly with external CPA firms.
· Demonstrated ability to identify accounting issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement effective solutions.
· Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting systems (NetSuite is a plus).
· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
