Assistant Controller

The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in overseeing the company’s accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and month-end and year-end close processes. This role helps ensure accurate financial information, compliance with accounting standards, and efficient accounting procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
• Prepare and review financial statements, account reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Oversee general ledger activity and ensure accurate account balances.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash-management functions.
• Maintain and strengthen internal accounting controls and procedures.
• Coordinate audit and tax-related requests with external accountants and auditors.
• Research and apply applicable GAAP and accounting policies.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiency.
• Supervise, train, and support accounting staff as needed.
• Assist the Controller with special projects and financial analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3–7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably including supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience with month-end close and account reconciliations.
• Proficiency with Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or CPA candidate.
• Experience with financial statement preparation and audits.
• Experience with ERP implementation or process improvement.
• Prior experience in a multi-entity or rapidly growing organization.
