This role is responsible for leading an accounts payable team, standardizing processes, strengthening financial controls, maintaining accurate reporting, and ensuring timely payment processing and month-end close activities.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting knowledge with people leadership, process improvement skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across the organization.
Schedule: Full-Time | Hybrid (3+ days per week in office)
What You’ll Do
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and standardize accounts payable processes across multiple US business entities, including supplier onboarding, one-time payments, and approval workflows
- Manage weekly payment runs, ensuring payments are processed accurately and in accordance with agreed terms while supporting effective working capital management
- Establish, monitor, and improve team performance metrics related to invoice processing, accuracy, and turnaround times
- Ensure timely reconciliation of cash activity and accounts payable transactions in collaboration with finance team members
- Oversee invoice processing and ensure appropriate matching to purchase orders and supporting documentation, where applicable
- Build strong working relationships with operational teams, ensuring timely resolution of accounts payable inquiries and escalations
- Reconcile accounts payable ledgers to supplier statements and maintain accurate cash flow reporting and forecasting
- Ensure compliance with purchasing, purchase order, capital expenditure, and payment approval policies
- Lead, coach, and develop the accounts payable team, promoting accountability, accuracy, and consistent service delivery
- Coordinate month-end close activities, monitor progress against established deadlines, and communicate updates to finance leadership
- Establish individual development plans, set performance expectations, and support continuous improvement across the team
- Collaborate closely with accounting and finance stakeholders to support financial reporting, process efficiency, and business operations
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows, strengthen internal controls, and enhance the overall effectiveness of accounts payable operations
Experience
- Demonstrated experience supervising or managing accounts payable operations and leading a team
- Experience using ERP or financial management systems
- Experience working in multi-entity organizations
- Experience in logistics, service-based, or private equity-backed environments is an advantage
- Strong understanding of accounts payable controls, supplier reconciliations, payment processing, and cash flow forecasting
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to collaborate confidently with operational teams, finance leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related financial reporting tools
- Ability to accommodate occasional adjustments to working hours to support collaboration across different time zones
