Job Summary
- Execution-focused manager responsible for accurate and timely financial reporting and management analysis for assigned accounts and programs. Provides leadership, technical guidance, and workflow management in a collaborative, customer-focused manner.
Salary Range- $110,400-$117,300
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure timely account management, analysis, and reconciliations to support timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting, safeguarding of assets, and effective audit trail. Monitor outstanding commitments and obligations.
- Facilitate accurate and timely financial statement preparation; draft supporting notes as required.
- Provide broad customized support to an accounting team with varied responsibilities and skillsets. Serve as a resource and subject matter expert on relevant policies and procedures. Set clear objectives and goals, conduct performance reviews, and assist with training and succession planning. Explain standards and methodologies effectively to team members and coach them through problem resolution.
- Make recommendations to accounting and finance management regarding the interpretation of relevant accounting pronouncements and related impact to financial statements. Draft new procedures as necessary, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements, and State of New Jersey and NJEDA policies.
- Facilitate timely responses to audit and monitoring requests, ensuring accuracy and sufficiency of audit evidence provided.
- Assist finance staff in preparing budgets and financial projections for assigned accounts by gathering relevant data, analyzing trends, and presenting findings to management.
- Promote teamwork and demonstrate respectful communication to foster an interactive, cooperative, collaborative, and customer-focused work environment.
- Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Experience and Skills
- Thorough understanding of GAAP. Experience researching and interpreting technical issues in GASB pronouncements, and designing and implementing related policies and procedures.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with a proven record of successfully coordinating multiple projects while meeting deadlines and maintaining high accuracy.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; proficiency in English grammar.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality over sensitive business documents, personnel matters, and proprietary data.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, experience with data analysis, willingness to learn necessary accounting software, including Business Central (BC).
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent professional field.
- CPA or Advanced Degree preferred.
- Minimum of seven years of relevant work experience in private, public, or government accounting, auditing, or finance. Government experience and at least two years of supervisory experience are preferred.
Additional Information
- Minimal physical demands and ability to work out of normal business hours
- Travel expected when necessary for business operations (infrequent)
Staff are required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essentials duties of the position
