PC Accounting Intern – Spring 2027-Summer 2027 (Potential for extension into Fall 2027)

Farm Bureau Financial Services has an accounting internship opportunity available for individuals to gain accounting experience in the property and casualty insurance industry.

What You'll Do: As a PC Accounting Intern, you will be working with and assisting in financial reporting and analysis for the PC Companies. The role involves assistance with month-end processes such as preparing loss analytics and updating catastrophe loss metrics, which will ultimately lead to the publication of monthly loss ratios. After month-end, you will help with settlements, individual claim billings, receipts, and research related to non-storm events like wildfires and winter storms. This position provides exposure to our accounting system, reinsurance system, and an ability to learn more technical skills such as Microsoft’s Power Platform and CoPilot.

As an intern, you will also participate in corporate activities designed to provide exposure to our industry, organization, and culture. Our internship program follows an 80/10/10 approach:

• 80% of your time will be spent performing meaningful work and project-based assignments within your department.
• 10% of your time will be dedicated to learning from and networking with employees in other areas of the organization.
• 10% of your time will be spent participating in shared internship experiences that provide insight into our culture, leadership, and business operations.

What it Takes to Join our Team:

• Be a sophomore/junior working towards a bachelor’s degree in the field of Accounting, or Finance.
• Ability to work part-time in the spring and full-time (8am-4:30pm M-F) during summer 2027, in-person at our Home Office in West Des Moines, IA.
• Have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Have strong communication skills, sense of initiative and teamwork.
• Have a strong attention to detail and good organizational skills.
• Must possess good problem-solving skills.
• Experienced in Microsoft Excel.
