PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Accounting Generalist works closely with the entire Business Office and Payroll Processing to ensure accurate data entry and to provide timely information as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Associate Degree with concentration in accounting (required); Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (preferred) or Finance (considered).
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records.
- Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and do word processing.
- Proficient keyboarding and file maintenance skills.
- Ability to meet established deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively & ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Strong organizational, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze, pay attention to detail, and problem solve.
- Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize to ensure data submissions are accurate and timely met.
- Keen independent judgment in determining when to seek advice.
Experience:
- One to three years of accounting/finance experience.
- Intermediate to advanced skills and knowledge of Excel, as well as other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with accounting software.
- Thorough knowledge of general ledger accounting and account reconciliation.
- Experience and proven success in producing accurate data and meeting deadlines.
- Experience in using coding systems.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Accounting/Finance:
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports such as financial statements and budget performance.
- Prepares monthly outstanding purchase order and other aging reports.
- Analyzes the individual items and discrepancies and works with others to solve when necessary.
- Perform general office support like filing and other administrative tasks.
- Receive and count cash receipts from campuses and club sponsors.
- Daily preparation of deposits and delivery to bank as required.
- Performs the weekly positive pay process for all checking accounts.
- Assist with student instrument/band billing statements.
- Assist with Campus Activity & Student Club Accounts administration.
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards (i.e. GAAP, FASB, FASRG), rules, regulations, and systems of internal control.
- Assists with the period, quarter, and year-end accounting closing process.
- Analyzes general ledger accounts and prepares quarterly and annual schedules.
- Supports, backup, and cross-train to fulfill duties associated with Accounts Payable Coordinator position.
- Assist with reconciling vendor statements and solving discrepancies when necessary.
- Aid in the implementation of new accounting policies, standards, and guidelines.
- Identify areas for improvement and implement improvements to processes.
- Assist with auditor requests.
- Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
- Assist with construction project payment tracking.
- Process EFT payment(s) for chase credit card, UMB bank, TWC, TX Mutual, and any other.
- Assist with updating business office procedures and forms.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Payroll Processing:
- Reconciles FBS statements to deduction register and general ledger information.
- Process monthly FBS invoice in a timely manner.
- Prepares monthly report that outlines discrepancies with general ledger/statement/deduction register for review by Supervisor and CFO.
- Assist with Time Correction (as needed).

Bob Hope School is a growing open-enrollment public charter school (non-profit) providing parents a choice in their child's education. Bob Hope Elementary is a Montessori / Dual-Language campus. Instruction is conducted in a two-way immersion program, where teachers fluent in English teach ELA and those fluent in Spanish teach SLA and are supported by teacher aides with a strong command of both languages.
