Accounting Associate

Job Description Statement

The Accounting Associate performs routine accounting activities to support the accuracy and integrity of the credit union’s financial operations. This role assists with general ledger reconciliations, accounts payable processes, financial reporting, and regulatory filings. The position also supports inventory management, fixed asset tracking, and administrative purchasing functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Reconcile designated general ledger accounts on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis as assigned.
• Support accounts payable processing, including initiating workflows and ensuring timely invoice payment.
• Purchase and manage supply orders for all departments.
• Reconcile corporate credit card statements.
• Assist with fixed asset program, and periodic inventory audits.
• Prepare and post general ledger entries in support of financial reporting.
• Assist with sales and use tax reporting requirements. 
• Support monthly updates to the Asset Liability Management (ALM) model.
• Assist in maintaining the investment portfolio.
• Maintain accurate records of supply inventory and non-capitalized assets.
• Support preparation of the quarterly Call Report.
• Assist with annual vendor tax filings. 
• Support annual personal property tax filings for applicable jurisdictions. Participate in duel-control functions in accordance with credit union operations and security procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and member information.
• Stay current on professional knowledge through training and development opportunities.
• Contributes to team initiatives, events, and cross-functional support by always projecting a positive team attitude to members and staff.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, specifically the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), OFAC, and the Patriot Act, as well as all state and federal laws. 
• Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.

Education and/or Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• Two years of experience working in a financial institution required or an equivalent combination of relevant education and financial institution experience may be considered.
• Accounting experience, including reconciliations, accounts payable, general ledger activities, or financial reporting, preferred.
