JOB TITLE:  

Accountant, Research & Economic Development Division

JOB PURPOSE:   
The position will work within Research & Economic Development office managing expenditures for units within REDD and will be responsible for budget management, specializing in specific departments and/or expenditure types depending on unit needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage fiscal items for units within Research & Economic Development Division. This includes managing contracts, procuring equipment/supplies and processing travel expenses, requisitions and reconciling procurement cards
• Manage assigned grants by establishing account structures, monitoring expenditures and balances, processing expenses, preparing financial reports, and communicating with principal investigators. 
• Prepare and deliver financial reports to staff, directors, and division leadership, providing transparency into state and indirect cost funding while performing analysis and interpretation to support informed decision-making.
• Perform administrative tasks related to special projects, maintenance and improvement of systems and processes, maintenance and review of business practices, procedures & policies which impact unit operations.
• Forecast and manage department budgets and grants after reconciliation of revenue and expenses to ensure units stay within established budgets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or MIS/Accounting or Finance or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience:  1 year work-related experience

• Experience with Payroll and Human Resources
• Experience with Sponsored Programs and grant accounting
