The Homeless Services Department's Business Services team is seeking a highly motivated and qualified internal staff to temporarily step into the role of Accounts Payable Supervisor through a Work Out of Class (WOC) opportunity. This is an exceptional chance to gain valuable supervisory experience, lead critical finance operations, and contribute to department-wide efficiency and compliance. In this role you will ensure accurate and efficient financial operations and be the subject matter expert of all accounts payable. This is expected to be a temporary work out of class position. It can last up to 12 months, but can end at any time. This position will report to Steven Ohl.
All current regular, probationary, recall list, and limited duration employees are eligible to apply. On-call employees must have been currently or previously hired through a civil service (competitive) process to be eligible to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and Mentor a Team:
Supervise a team of fiscal staff, providing guidance, support, and mentorship.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
Conduct performance evaluations and implement development plans.
Oversee daily operations and workflow.
Manage Accounts Payable Operations:
Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and reports.
Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with regulations.
Manage vendor relationships and resolve invoice discrepancies.
Drive Process Improvement:
Stay up-to-date on relevant laws and regulations.
Analyze workflows, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements.
Lead quality improvement initiatives and implement new procedures.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
To Qualify

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills:
A Bachelor’s Degree and three (3) to six (6) years of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position OR equivalent transferable skills and experience of 7-10 years.

Routine Telework: This position is designated as “routine telework,” meaning you will be working remotely (from home); a hybrid schedule also is available. As with all routine telework positions, employees may be required to come into the office on occasion. The designation of Routine Telework may be subject to change at a future time. All employees must reside in Oregon or Washington; the county cannot support ongoing telework from other locations. The onsite work location for this position is the Gladys McCoy Building located at 619 NW 6th Ave Portland, Oregon 97209.
