RSM is looking for a dynamic Tax Partner to join our growing Accounting Methods & Periods (AMP) practice. As a Partner focused on helping our clients minimize their tax liability, you would be responsible for:
Responsibilities:
Consult with clients on a variety of tax technical issues in the accounting and methods functional area, including the timing and character of income and expense recognition, inventory methods, UNICAP, the treatment of tangible assets, amortization and depreciation, transaction costs, intangible assets, leasing, revenue recognition, and changes in methods of accounting and accounting periods.
Build and manage a team of professionals which are charged with helping clients identify, document, and support tax positions related tax accounting methods
Manage AMP opportunities including research and development tax credit/deduction analyses, Section 199 deduction engagements, section 179 deduction analysis, application of tangible asset regulations, cost segregation, and appropriate application of accounting methods
Understand and apply changes in legislature as it relates to AMP
Actively lead business development with existing clients as well as developing marketing plans for securing new clients
Demonstrate sound judgement and instincts with respect to evaluating complex scenarios involving various AMP opportunities
Work very closely with core Federal tax professional to ensure all clients are receiving an exceptional level of service
Responsible for mentoring and developing team members, managing profitable engagements, formulating sales and go to market strategy, developing service offerings in conjunction with Washington National Tax, technical review deliverables and develop national and local training programs
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university
CPA, with J.D./LL.M preferred
10-15 years’ experience in a public accounting firm and/or other professional services firm
10+ years’ experience providing tax technical guidance and consulting services to internal client servers, as well as large, multinational clients on a variety of federal tax matters, including expense and revenue recognition, capitalization and depreciation, leasing, long-term contract accounting, base-erosion and anti-abuse tax (BEAT) planning, and accounting method planning for foreign corporations.
Knowledge of a broad range of corporate tax matters in various industries
Experience managing tax consulting professionals
Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office, and other comparable programs
Exceptional organizational skills
Ability to work in a deadline driven environment with the ability to manage multiple engagements
Exceptional leadership and business development skills
Ability to work in a team environment
