Tax Manager
Location: Bethlehem, Pennsylvania
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Compensation: $120,000-$160,000
Career Opportunity: Path to equity ownership
Build More Than a Career—Help Shape the Future of a Firm
We are partnering with an established and growing public accounting firm in the Bethlehem area to hire a client-focused Tax Manager.
This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced tax professional who wants greater influence, stronger client relationships, and a meaningful path toward firm leadership. As part of a planned succession strategy, the Tax Manager will gradually assume key client responsibilities and may have the opportunity to pursue equity ownership within approximately two to three years.
Unlike many public accounting environments, this firm prioritizes sustainable workloads and work-life balance. Team members generally maintain consistent 40-hour workweeks throughout the year—even during tax season.
What You’ll Do
In this highly visible role, you will:
- Manage and strengthen relationships with small-business and individual clients.
- Serve as a trusted advisor, answering questions and providing practical tax guidance.
- Review business and individual tax returns for accuracy, compliance, and planning opportunities.
- Gradually assume responsibility for a significant client portfolio.
- Support the onboarding of new clients and contribute to continued firm growth.
- Help expand recurring bookkeeping, outsourced accounting, and back-office services.
- Collaborate closely with firm leadership on client strategy and operational priorities.
- Mentor developing team members and help strengthen internal processes.
- Grow into a broader leadership role with the potential for future equity ownership.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Approximately six or more years of public accounting experience.
- Strong tax preparation, review, and planning knowledge.
- Experience advising small-business owners and managing client relationships.
- The confidence to explain complex tax topics in a clear, approachable way.
- A strong technical foundation and sound professional judgment.
- Comfort working with modern accounting, tax, and workflow technology.
- A stable employment history and interest in making a long-term career move.
- The ability to meet regularly with clients in person.
Current Tax Managers are encouraged to apply. Experienced Tax Seniors who are ready to step into management will also be considered. Candidates should live—or be willing to relocate—within approximately 30 minutes of the office.
Compensation and Benefits
The firm offers a highly competitive package that includes:
- Base salary: $120,000-$160,000
- Potential equity opportunity within approximately two to three years.
- Possible buyout or earnout structure as part of the ownership transition.
- 100% employer-paid PPO medical coverage for the employee.
- 50% employer-paid medical coverage for dependents.
- SIMPLE IRA with an employer match.
- Graduated paid time off.
- Two to three weeks of vacation based on tenure.
- Ten paid holidays.
- Early office closures before select holidays.
- Consistent, primarily 40-hour workweeks throughout the year.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
- Real ownership potential: Join a firm with a genuine succession plan—not just a vague promise of advancement.
- Sustainable public accounting: Build your career without the traditional tax-season schedule.
- Immediate impact: Step into meaningful client-facing responsibilities from the start.
- Established foundation: Work with a loyal client base while helping expand a growing recurring-revenue practice.
