This role leads the financial management and decision-support functions for the Materials Management Department Product Supply Chain, ensuring the responsible stewardship of Church resources in support of its religious mission. The position oversees financial reporting, inventory and cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and strategic financial analysis for manufacturing and product operations. As a senior finance leader, this individual partners with supply chain, manufacturing, procurement, and product teams to improve financial performance, optimize costs, manage risk, and support data-driven business decisions. The role also provides leadership and development to finance teams while ensuring compliance with Church policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
General Church Finance Responsibilities
- Ensures compliance with Church financial policies and procedures through active controllership involvement in all financial decisions.
- Ensures that all reports and disclosures comply with applicable governmental regulations, professional standards, and organizational policies.
- Manages the preparation of accurate and timely financial, accounting, and statistical reports for all operations.
- Manages the preparation of financial statements according to policy and accounting standards.
- Reviews operations for internal controls (administrative and accounting), gives direction for changes to designated personnel, and is responsible to maintain the integrity of these controls.
- Ensures a high level of financial and management expertise by providing financial training and motivation to employees.
- Manages the analysis of financial reports identifying key trends in the business or through subsidiaries.
- Creates presentations for Department Controller, Directors and/or Managing Director.
- Advises senior management on new financial reporting requirements.
Safeguard Church financial assets by establishing and monitoring expenditures against these budgets.
Specific Product Finance Senior Manager Responsibilities
- Report to the Controller of Materials Management Department and lead the Supply Chain Product Finance Group, including the Beehive Clothing Finance and Print Manufacturing Finance teams, as well as Product Life Cycle Management finance support.
- Partner with the centralized financial planning, budgeting, and finance process-quality groups to develop integrated strategies, forecasts, and plans that support informed supply chain and product life-cycle decisions.
- Provide functional leadership, coaching, and technical mentorship to centralized FP&A team members supporting the Product Supply Chain, aligning their work with product finance priorities, decision-support needs, and department standards.
- Lead production-cost analysis, scenario modeling, and strategic decision support to identify resource-allocation opportunities that enable the organization to achieve strategic objectives, deliver required product volumes, and optimize total product and manufacturing costs.
- Assist the Department Controller in advancing people, process, and accounting-quality initiatives and in adopting department ways of working.
- Establish and maintain effective cost-accounting processes, including standard and project costing, cost rollups, manufacturing variance analysis, inventory valuation, and related reporting.
- Serve as a subject-matter expert in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management and provide training and oversight for its effective use in manufacturing finance, inventory, costing, and control processes.
- Develop and maintain financial projections for product sales and production volumes, inventory levels, and product costs and margins.
- Lead product-pricing analysis and recommendations, ensuring prices appropriately consider product costs, demand, inventory, operational requirements, and Church objectives.
- Deliver accurate and timely accounting, reporting, forecasts, and plans—including product-cost information, manufacturing variances, inventory trends, capacity utilization, and supply chain performance analyses—to support sound financial and operational decisions.
- Serve as the lead finance business partner to the Planning Director and represent MMD Finance in partnering with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Product Management, Procurement, and other stakeholders to improve financial performance, strengthen controls, and support product life-cycle decisions in alignment with MMD and MMD Finance initiatives and priorities.
- Identify operational, financial, accounting, and control risks; establish practical mitigation plans; and monitor their effectiveness.
- Support continuous improvement, systems enablement, and the implementation of consistent global finance processes and reporting practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business management, or a related field.
- CPA (or equivalent) or CMA required; MBA preferred.
- Twelve or more years of progressively responsible experience in business administration and financial operations relevant to the broad requirements of this position.
- Eight or more years of progressive managerial experience in manufacturing finance and accounting, including cost accounting and inventory accounting.
- Strong analytical capability and proficiency in using business intelligence tools and artificial intelligence to generate insights and support decision-making.
- Demonstrated leadership, managerial, interpersonal, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience using MRP Systems in manufacturing operations.
- Excellent organizational, presentation, writing, planning, and computer skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of establishing, forecasting, and controlling operating and project budgets.
- In-depth knowledge of Church financial standards, local rules, and practices.
- Excellent understanding of U.S. and international accounting principles and standard cost-accounting methods.
