Position Summary The Strategy & Corporate Development Analyst will support enterprise strategy, corporate development, M&A, partnerships, and market intelligence work. This role is designed for someone with strong analytical ability, intellectual curiosity and the ability to learn transaction-related work on the job.
The analyst will work closely with senior leadership to research markets, identify potential acquisition and partnership opportunities, build company profiles, support financial and strategic analysis, maintain deal pipelines, and prepare materials that inform executive decision-making.
This role is well-suited for an early-career professional who wants exposure to corporate strategy, M&A, market intelligence, and executive-level decision support.
Key Responsibilities:
M&A and Corporate Development Support
Identify, research, screen, and track potential acquisition, partnership, and investment opportunities; develop target lists, company profiles, and strategic rationale for review by senior leadership. Maintain a corporate development pipeline, including target lists, research notes, outreach status, strategic rationale, and follow-up items. Assist with early-stage evaluation of potential opportunities including strategic fit and alignment to the Institution’s M&A principles, market attractiveness, business model, risks, and potential value creation. Support due diligence processes by organizing information requests, tracking open items, summarizing findings, and coordinating inputs from internal and external stakeholders. Assist in preparing transaction-related materials, including target summaries, diligence trackers, meeting notes, executive briefings, and recommendation memos. Learn and support basic financial analysis, valuation, business-case development, and scenario analysis over time.
Market Intelligence and Research
Build market maps that identify relevant companies, competitors, potential partners, acquisition targets, and emerging sector trends. Create company profiles that summarize business model, ownership, leadership, market position, products/services, growth indicators, strategic fit, and potential relevance. Monitor relevant news, transactions, investor activity, market shifts, and competitor moves. Conduct research on industries, competitors, companies, market trends, student and workforce demand, partnerships, and M&A activity. Translate research into concise summaries, insights, and recommendations for senior leadership.
Strategy and Executive Support
Support enterprise strategy projects, growth initiatives, and special projects as needed. Prepare presentation materials, research briefs, and analytical summaries for executive audiences. Coordinate follow-ups, workstream trackers, and project documentation across cross-functional initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, strategy, data analytics, or a related field. 1–3 years of experience in corporate strategy, management consulting, corporate development, investment analysis, FP&A, market research, business analytics, strategic finance, or related analytical roles. Experience supporting executive-level analyses, strategic initiatives, business case development, or cross-functional projects preferred. Comfortable operating in fast-paced, evolving environments with shifting priorities and ambiguous problem sets. Basic understanding of financial statements, accounting concepts, business models, and financial analysis. Strong research and analytical skills, including the ability to gather information from multiple sources and synthesize it clearly. Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills. Clear written communication and ability to produce concise summaries, briefs, and presentations. High attention to detail, strong organizational habits, and ability to manage multiple workstreams. Curiosity about markets, companies, strategy, business models, and M&A. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior exposure to investment banking, private equity, consulting, corporate strategy, FP&A, accounting, market research, or business analytics. Experience creating market maps, company profiles, financial analyses, business cases, or executive presentations. Familiarity with financial statements, valuation concepts, corporate transactions, or M&A terminology. Experience using CRM tools, Excel models, PowerPoint, or data visualization tools. Interest in further developing expertise in financial modeling, strategic analysis, and transaction execution.
