This role is part of the Strategic Finance team and sits at the intersection of strategy, finance, and operations. Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance & Strategy, the Strategic Finance Manager, Retail Operations serves as a dedicated business partner to Operations and Marketing leaders across Trades & Outdoor brand company-owned stores, with a particular focus on translating financial performance into clear business action. The role is designed to sit between FP&A and Operations: owning a deep understanding of the underlying P&Ls, partnering with FP&A to update forecasts, monitoring daily and weekly KPIs to identify trends, and communicating insights in a way that enables leaders to respond quickly and effectively. This is a high-visibility individual contributor role for a finance professional who can move fluidly between analysis, operational context, and strategic decision support.
Responsibilities:
Serve as a strategic finance partner to Operations and Marketing leadership across Trades & Outdoor company-owned stores, providing financial insight to support decision-making and performance management Develop and maintain deep expertise in the underlying store-level and portfolio P&Ls, with a clear understanding of revenue drivers, labor dynamics, margin performance, and key cost levers Partner closely with FP&A on the budget, forecast, and monthly performance review processes by translating operating trends and field intelligence into meaningful financial updates Act as a bridge between Finance and Operations by connecting financial outcomes to day-to-day business activity and helping leaders understand the implications of performance trends
Performance Insights and Operational Support
Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly KPIs across the Retail portfolio to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and communicate findings clearly to Operations leadership Analyze business performance at the store, market, and brand levels, synthesizing results into clear narratives and actionable recommendations for senior leaders Support General Managers and field leaders in understanding performance drivers, cost structure, and margin dynamics to improve decision-making and accountability Partner cross-functionally with Operations, HR, Procurement, and other stakeholders to identify and execute initiatives that improve profitability, consistency, and operational effectiveness Identify opportunities to standardize and scale workflows across the Retail portfolio, improving the quality, consistency, and auditability of financial and operational processes
Reporting and Decision Support
Partner with FP&A, Business Intelligence, and Operations stakeholders to shape recurring reporting, dashboards, and performance views that support faster and better decision-making Use reporting and analysis to highlight emerging trends, isolate root causes, and ensure leaders have timely, actionable insight into business performance
Incentive Compensation Administration and Oversight
Assist in the administration and oversight of incentive and bonus plans across the portfolio of locations Ensure plan mechanics are accurately calculated, consistently applied, and clearly communicated to stakeholders; identify and escalate structural issues or anomalies
Qualifications:
6+ years of progressive finance experience, with significant exposure to a multi-unit operating environment (home services or similar) Direct experience owning or supporting a P&L at the unit or regional level Background in financial planning and analysis, business partnering, or operational finance Experience with incentive or commission plan administration Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, with proficiency in Excel Ability to translate financial complexity into clear, actionable communication for non-finance audiences
Preferred
Experience in the trades (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, restoration) or outdoor services (pest control, lawn care) industries Familiarity with ServiceTitan or comparable field service management platforms Familiarity with data visualization or BI tools; ability to design dashboards and executive-level reporting
