About the Staff Payroll Accountant Role
The Staff Payroll Accountant serves as a key member of the payroll and accounting function, helping ensure accurate payroll processing, payroll tax compliance, and financial reporting across a global employee population. This role partners closely with accounting, HR, tax, benefits, and external payroll providers to support payroll operations and related accounting activities. In addition to payroll responsibilities, the position contributes to general ledger reconciliations, payroll reporting, and process improvement initiatives. The role also supports global mobility programs and employee compensation-related activities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining payroll expertise with accounting and analytical responsibilities.
Role Responsibilities
- Support payroll operations across multiple domestic and international employee populations
- Review payroll reports and validate payroll accuracy prior to processing
- Prepare payroll-related journal entries and account reconciliations
- Assist with payroll tax compliance, reporting, and related payroll filings
- Investigate payroll discrepancies and partner with internal teams to resolve issues
- Collaborate with HR, accounting, tax, benefits, and external payroll providers
- Support employee compensation programs and payroll-related reporting activities
- Participate in payroll process improvements, system enhancements, and documentation initiatives
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in payroll, accounting, tax, or a related finance function
- Understanding of payroll tax regulations, including multi-state payroll concepts
- Experience preparing account reconciliations, journal entries, or payroll reporting
- Strong proficiency in Excel
- Experience with Workday, ADP, or similar payroll systems is a plus
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage confidential employee and compensation information with discretion
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
