Agency: Omnicom Corporate SSC Job Function: Finance Job Subfunction: Tax Job Description: POSITION SUMMARY : Prepares and completes tax returns and reports for state, local, property, sales and other tax liabilities. Responsible for meeting all required deadlines. Maintains current knowledge of all tax laws affecting the company. Reviews proposals for tax implications and recommends actions that meet the business plans while managing the tax liability. Participates in tax audits. Involved with tax implications of mergers and acquisitions or other structuring projects. Provide oversight on unclaimed property reporting and escheatment. Also assist with special projects and unique assignments to ensure deadlines are met. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Consistently provides proven, formal mentorship Leads high complexity assignments Regularly leads self and others Is viewed as an established SME and/or established as specialist Understands the “big picture” view and how it aligns to overall company strategy Responsible for the preparation and completion of tax returns/processes within required deadlines for all US states and Canadian federal and provincial taxes Gathers and prepares information required for various components of tax reporting, state and local tax returns for sales/use/property/escheat/miscellaneous taxes Drives the preparation and analysis of various tax-related projects, such as process improvements and automation, and ERP system implementation/updates Assist with maintenance of Vertex and Diagnostax tax systems Performs research and interprets tax laws and/or tax accounting rules and regulations applicable to new businesses, transactions, or new product offerings Participates in tax audits, as well as financial statement audits of tax-related items Assist with tax compliance testing and reporting Perform account reconciliations and tax journal entries Responsible for registering the company for all applicable sales/use/property/miscellaneous taxes Ensure compliance with state tax laws for sales, personal property, and unclaimed taxes Regular and reliable attendance required Ability to work onsite in an office environment with limited remote work alternatives, consistent with applicable law EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS : BS/BA in Accounting, Finance or similar field is required – MBA/CPA/CMI is a plus 3+ years accounting experience with multi-state sales and property tax filing Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to interface well with internal departments and outside customers Detail-oriented, strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving skills Demonstrated strong project management skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment Proficient in key tools such as Excel, Word, SAP, Hyperion, Vertex O Series, Vertex Returns and Diagnostax Omnicom’s policy requires employees to work in the office for a minimum of three days a week, unless additional in-office days are directed by their agency or manager.
