Zions Bancorporation is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our Strategic Commercial Finance team within Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A). Strategic Commercial Finance serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, delivering actionable financial insights that drive enterprise strategy, optimize financial performance, and support long-term shareholder value creation.
Our FP&A organization focuses on improving balance sheet returns, increasing fee income, enhancing operational efficiency, and leveraging process automation to support sustainable growth. Team members work directly with senior executives across the organization and contribute to highly visible initiatives that influence strategic decisions at the Executive Leadership Team and Board levels.
This role will provide dedicated financial support to the Bank's Capital Markets Division, partnering closely with business leaders responsible for foreign exchange (FX), interest rate derivatives, commodities, loan syndications, securities underwriting, and real estate capital markets activities. The successful candidate will serve as a strategic finance partner responsible for financial planning, forecasting, profitability analysis, executive reporting, and decision support for one of the Bank's most dynamic and sophisticated business lines.

Responsibilities:
As a senior member of the Strategic Commercial Finance team, you will operate as a trusted advisor to Capital Markets leadership and Finance executives, delivering financial insights and recommendations that influence business performance and strategic outcomes. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as the primary finance partner supporting the Bank's Capital Markets Division, providing financial analysis and actionable insights to business and executive leadership.
- Produce, validate, and distribute daily P&L reporting for capital markets portfolios, providing analysis of revenue drivers and significant performance variances.
- Lead the annual planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes for Capital Markets business lines.
- Develop, enhance, and maintain executive-level financial models that support revenue forecasting, profitability analysis, resource planning, and strategic initiatives.
- Analyze financial performance across Capital Markets activities, including foreign exchange (FX), interest rate derivatives, commodities, loan syndications, securities underwriting, and real estate capital markets.
- Perform detailed variance analysis, identify key business drivers, and clearly articulate performance trends, risks, and opportunities to senior management.
- Challenge assumptions used in forecasts, budgets, and business cases by leveraging analytical rigor, industry knowledge, and business judgment.
- Prepare and deliver executive-ready presentations, reporting packages, and financial analyses for senior leadership and key stakeholders.
- Identify reporting gaps and develop new dashboards, metrics, and analytical frameworks to improve business visibility and decision-making.
- Partner with business line leaders to evaluate growth opportunities, investment decisions, and overall business performance.
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives that increase reporting efficiency, enhance data quality, and strengthen financial controls.
- Facilitate regular business reviews with Capital Markets leadership, providing recommendations and insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Document and maintain standard operating procedures and ensure consistency across critical planning and reporting processes.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior analysts while promoting best practices in financial analysis, modeling, and forecasting.
- Support ad hoc strategic, financial, and operational analyses as requested by executive management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, statistics, mathematics, or another business-related field.
- 8+ years of experience in financial analysis, financial modeling, budgeting, analytics, or forecasting or other directly related experience.
- Experience supporting Capital Markets, Investment Banking, or Commercial Banking required.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to translate complex financial information into actionable business recommendations.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and build strong partnerships across Finance and business teams.
- Advanced financial modeling, forecasting, and profitability analysis capabilities.
- Experience working with large datasets and business intelligence tools to drive insights and decision-making.
- Proficiency with SQL, Python, R, SAS, Power BI, or similar analytical tools.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills, including experience presenting to executive leadership.
The position is 5 days in office and located in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City, the Zions Bank Building serves as the headquarters of both Zions Bancorporation and Zions Bank.
