Specific Job Summary
The Tax Specialist will report to the Tax Senior Manager and will support the Marriott Vacations Worldwide (MVW) transaction tax function. The Tax Specialist will prepare workpapers and reconciliations, complete postings, maintain and review files, check work for accuracy, and complete internal control processes supporting the filing of MVW’s state and local tax returns to ensure compliance with state and local tax sales and use, property, lodging, and federal information reporting requirements for all domestic locations where MVW conducts business. The Tax Specialist will also perform related duties and projects as assigned in support, including property tax duties of the company’s tax reporting and compliance responsibilities.

Expected Contributions
Prepares tax workpapers supporting filing of state and local sales, use and occupancy tax returns.
Prepare, review and post journal entries to be recorded and tax payments to be made.
Obtains, reviews, and validates asset data necessary for filing personal property tax returns in various jurisdictions.
Establishes, prepares, and coordinates property tax payment requests for approved bills and ensures payment is timely, well tracked, and properly documented.
Receives, researches, and responds to tax related notices, inquiries and correspondences from internal and external clients.
Assist in preparation of monthly tax account reconciliations in compliance with MVWP-66 Policy and work with local site teams to obtain necessary reconciliations and information.
Runs various General Ledger queries from PeopleSoft, including trial balances, P&L, B/S, etc.
Collects, organizes, and analyzes data (in Microsoft excel) for special reports, analytics, cash flow requirements, etc.
Performs special projects as requested.
Candidate Profile
Education
High school diploma/G.E.D. equivalent
BS/BA in Accounting preferred
Experience
Proficient in use of Microsoft Excel
Minimum of one year of equivalent work experience
PeopleSoft software experience preferred
