Senior Tax Manager
About the Opportunity
A highly respected private investment office in the greater Seattle area is seeking a Senior Tax Manager to oversee a sophisticated tax environment supporting ultra-high-net-worth individuals, partnerships, trusts, and a diverse portfolio of related entities.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a tax professional who enjoys operating at both a strategic and hands-on level. You'll serve as the internal tax lead, partnering closely with executive leadership and external tax advisors to ensure accurate planning, compliance, and execution across a complex ownership structure.
This is a highly visible individual contributor role offering significant autonomy, cross-functional collaboration, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a growing investment platform.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the internal tax lead for ultra-high-net-worth individuals, partnerships, trusts, and related entities.
- Partner directly with executives and senior leadership on tax strategy, planning initiatives, and the tax implications of investments and transactions.
- Act as the primary liaison with the external public accounting firm, coordinating tax planning, compliance, return preparation, and review.
- Prepare and review tax workpapers, supporting schedules, and documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely execution.
- Coordinate tax reporting across multiple entities, investment structures, and ownership vehicles.
- Monitor changes in federal and state tax laws and proactively identify planning opportunities and potential risks.
- Collaborate closely with accounting, finance, legal, and investment professionals on acquisitions, restructurings, and other strategic initiatives.
- Improve tax processes, documentation, and internal controls while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
- Support special projects and provide strategic tax guidance as new investment opportunities arise.
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of progressive tax experience, ideally combining public accounting with private equity, investment management, or another sophisticated private investment environment.
- Deep expertise in taxation of ultra-high-net-worth individuals, partnerships, pass-through entities, trusts, and complex ownership structures.
- Strong understanding of partnership taxation and multi-entity organizations.
- Experience managing relationships with external tax advisors while maintaining ownership of the internal tax function.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with a hands-on approach to execution.
- Highly detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and project management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build credibility across executive leadership and cross-functional teams.
- CPA and/or related certification strongly preferred, essentially required.
Why You'll Love This Opportunity
- Rare opportunity to own the tax function within a sophisticated private investment office.
- Meaningful exposure to complex investment strategies and tax planning.
- Challenging, intellectually engaging work supporting ultra-high-net-worth individuals and intricate entity structures.
- Collaborative, low-ego culture where expertise and thoughtful problem-solving are highly valued.
- Opportunity to influence processes, drive continuous improvement, and make a lasting impact.
