Senior Tax Accountant
A growing tax advisory firm is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to work directly with clients on a collaborative, client-focused team.
Role Details
Type & Pay
- Full-time, year-round, with overtime during tax season
- $85,000–$110,000, based on experience
Location & Schedule
- On-site in Neptune, NJ
- Hybrid (3 days on-site, 2 remote)
Responsibilities
Tax Work
- Prepare and review complex returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, and nonprofits
- Review financial statements and supporting documents for accuracy
- Maintain accurate client records and workpapers
Client Advisory
- Research tax issues and help develop tax-planning strategies
- Identify tax-saving opportunities and recommend them to clients
- Respond to IRS and state notices
- Answer client questions and follow up on missing information
Team & Workload
- Manage multiple assignments and deadlines during tax season
- Guide and support junior accountants and administrative staff
Requirements
Must Have
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3–5 years of recent public-accounting tax experience
- Strong experience preparing individual and business returns
- Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office
- Strong research, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently, prioritize, and meet deadlines
- Accuracy, attention to detail, and professionalism
Nice to Have
- CPA or EA designation (CPA candidates will be considered)
- UltraTax CS experience
