Position: Senior Staff Accountant

Temporary Assignment

In-person onsite is required (non-negotiable).

Ideal Start Date: Wednesday, September 9, 2026

Duration: September through end of October.

Depending on workload, the assignment may extend through the end of November.

Hoxton Circle is managing this search on behalf of our client. Immediate need for a hands-on Senior Staff Accountant to help prepare for our client’s external audit. This is a minimum 7-week, deadline-driven temporary assignment for someone who can step in, get oriented quickly, and start reconciling accounts and building audit support with minimal ramp-up.

What You'll Be Doing

Reconcile payroll and deposit liability accounts, and independently research and resolve discrepancies. Complete a limited number of accounts receivable reconciliations. Reconcile general ledger activity in the agency's ERP system against a separate subledger or transactional tracking system. Prepare trial balances, PBC schedules, and supporting documentation for the external audit. Pull accounts payable transactions and invoice support for external audit testing. Use Excel, including PivotTables and VLOOKUP, to complete reconciliations and audit schedules.

What You'll Need

4+ years of hands-on government accounting experience. Solid GASB and fund accounting background (governmental, general, and enterprise funds). Strong general ledger and subledger reconciliation skills. Experience with year-end close and external audit preparation. Intermediate Excel skills; PivotTables and VLOOKUP are required. Bachelor's degree preferred but not required; for this assignment, hands-on experience matters a lot.

Schedule

Our client prefers the selected individual to work 24 hours per week

However, our client will consider an individual who is looking to work 40 hours per week.

Flexible start time between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m.
