SENIOR PROPERTY ACCOUNTANT I– INDIANAPOLIS, IN
SRG Residential/Milhaus is seeking an experienced Accountant!
Job Summary:
The Accountant is responsible for applying generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to analyze financial information, create and maintain periodic reporting, prepare general and standard journal entries, maintain fixed assets, assist in annual budgeting, and prepare standard accounting and financial reports for third party clients.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for preparation and distribution of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial information to lenders/owners.
- Prepare and monitor monthly accruals and adjust when needed.
- Assist Accounting Manager with bank reconciliation and financial reviews for third party clients.
- Reviews, reconciles, and audits accounting records of receipts, disbursements, and encumbrances to ensure fiscal accuracy and control.
- Review budget to actual variances and research/record correcting journal entries for account discrepancies, as needed.
- Record and reconcile Balance Sheet activity.
- Maintain fixed asset system, including posting monthly journal entries to record depreciation/amortization.
- Performs bank reconciliations and wire transfers for deposit.
- Monitor cash balances to ensure funds are sufficient to meet ongoing operational needs and provide updates to appropriate personnel as cash needs arise in a timely manner.
- Ensure lenders payments, property taxes, and other taxes are recorded accurately and processed timely.
- Review and approve assigned property invoices.
- Mentor and train accounting personnel.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by responding to requests from owners, business leaders, operations’ team members, and others related to financial reports, statements, and other accounting related items
- Prepare/record opening/closing entries for acquisitions and dispositions.
- Identifies opportunities and areas for improvement, and offers suggestions and/or implements procedures, processes, or tools that improve efficiency and productivity.
- Assumes and performs other tasks as directed by any person authorized to give such instructions or assignments.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required for this position.
- A combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the application and usage of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- One to three years of related experience, preferably with a multi-family property management company.
Other Qualifications:
- Demonstrated proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database management, and property management (e.g., Yardi, PayScan, MRI, One Site) programs to complete required reports.
- Working knowledge of email, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
Salary is TBD. We offer a competitive compensation package that includes a 401(K) match, rental discounts depending on location, rental incentive and renewal compensation, and bonuses. Regular full time employees who work between 30-40 hours a week are eligible for medical, dental, vision, other voluntary benefits and vacation accrual. Sick time accrual is provided in accordance with law.
