About the Role
The Senior Manager, Global Tax reports directly to the Head of Tax and plays a key leadership role within Neogen’s global tax organization.
This position is responsible for leading Neogen’s global consolidated income tax accounting and reporting under U.S. GAAP, while also serving as the primary tax business partner for the USAC and LATAM regions. The role provides oversight across tax planning, governance, transfer pricing, compliance, controversy, and tax risk management.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical tax expertise with business acumen, leadership capability, analytical strength, and the ability to partner effectively with senior stakeholders across the organization.
This is a highly visible role with exposure to senior leadership, mergers and acquisitions, business transformation initiatives, and global tax strategy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
In this role, you will make an impact by:
- Leading the coordination and completion of Neogen’s quarterly and annual U.S. GAAP consolidated income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740
- Overseeing the collection, review, and consolidation of U.S. and international data required to complete the income tax provision
- Preparing and reviewing technical tax accounting analyses and memoranda related to uncertain tax positions, indefinite reinvestment assertions, valuation allowances, and other significant tax accounting matters
- Preparing and reviewing supporting workpapers, 10-Q and 10-K tax disclosures, non-GAAP tax information, and materials for management and Board review
- Serving as the global process owner for income tax accounting and reporting, ensuring consistent application of tax accounting policies and strong internal controls across all regions
- Leading the development of Neogen’s global tax budget and forecast processes, including effective tax rate, cash taxes, and trade and non-trade intercompany activity
- Leading internal and external tax reporting audit activities, including management of auditor relationships, coordination of audit requests, and oversight of tax-related SOX controls and governance procedures
- Serving as the primary tax business partner for the USAC and LATAM regions and advising regional Finance and business leaders on strategic initiatives, operational decisions, and growth opportunities
- Overseeing tax governance, planning, transfer pricing, and income tax compliance activities within USAC and LATAM
- Identifying, evaluating, and implementing tax planning opportunities related to business restructurings, supply chain initiatives, legal entity optimization, tax incentives, and other strategic initiatives
- Providing oversight of U.S. federal, state and local, and LATAM income tax compliance processes, including significant tax positions, risk assessments, and filing obligations
- Overseeing operational transfer pricing and transfer pricing compliance activities, including intercompany pricing policies, documentation, controversy management, and business restructuring support
- Monitoring transfer pricing outcomes and alignment with legal entity profitability objectives
- Leading or overseeing tax audits, examinations, and controversy matters within USAC and LATAM, including coordination with external advisors and tax authorities
- Reviewing and analyzing regional tax metrics, including effective tax rate, cash taxes, provision fluctuations, and other key tax performance measures
- Partnering with Corporate Development, Finance, Legal, and business leaders to assess the tax implications of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings, and other strategic transactions
- Evaluating the tax accounting implications of significant transactions
- Monitoring legislative and regulatory developments affecting USAC and LATAM and advising leadership regarding potential business impacts, risks, and planning opportunities
- Providing oversight of indirect tax governance and risk management, including sales and use tax, property tax, VAT, GST, and other transaction taxes
- Driving continuous improvement across tax processes, data management, automation, systems, and reporting capabilities
- Leveraging technology and analytics to improve tax efficiency, scalability, controls, and business insights
- Building strong relationships across Finance, Legal, Treasury, Operations, Corporate Development, and regional leadership teams
- Serving as a trusted advisor and promoting proactive tax risk management throughout the organization
- Developing, mentoring, and leading members of the Global Tax team while fostering technical excellence, accountability, business acumen, and continuous improvement
These responsibilities preserve the manager’s original scope around ASC 740, audit and SOX, USAC/LATAM partnership, transfer pricing, M&A, indirect tax, technology, and team leadership.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university
- 8+ years of progressive tax experience
- Experience with significant responsibility for income tax accounting and reporting under ASC 740 within a multinational organization
- 4+ years of tax accounting experience with a large public accounting firm and/or multinational organization
- Working knowledge of U.S. federal and international tax laws and regulations
- Experience supporting or overseeing U.S. federal, state, and international income tax matters
- Experience with tax accounting, tax provision, and financial statement reporting
- Experience directly managing or leading tax professionals
- Experience managing complex projects and working across multiple functions and stakeholders
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience using data, technology, or tax systems to support tax reporting, analysis, or process improvement
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA and/or Master’s degree in Taxation
- Experience working within a multinational public company
- Experience with U.S. tax reform and related Treasury regulations
- Experience overseeing transfer pricing policies, operational transfer pricing, and transfer pricing documentation in a multinational environment
- Experience supporting tax matters within Latin America
- Experience with SEC reporting and SOX compliance
- Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings, or other strategic transactions
- Experience with SAP, Power BI, Prophix, or comparable ERP, tax, analytics, or consolidation tools
- Experience with tax automation, data analytics, and technology-enabled process improvement
- Experience managing tax audits, examinations, or controversy matters
- Experience partnering with senior Finance and business leaders
