In this role, you will be responsible for producing accurate, complete, and well-controlled financial records that serve as the foundation for financial reporting, decision-making, and compliance requirements. You will execute core general ledger, sub-ledger accounting, and period-end close activities to ensure transactions are recorded consistently, accurately, and in accordance with accounting standards and company policies.
Leveraging your expertise in compensation accounting, payroll processes, and system-to-ledger journal entry mapping, you will research, analyze, and validate complex system-generated accounting entries. You will identify and resolve discrepancies, strengthen financial controls, and help ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial results.
What you'll do:
- Analyzes accounting data, financial results, and reconciliation outcomes to identify issues, explain variances, validate system-generated journal entries, and recommend remediation or process improvements.
- Executes end-to-end accounting activities for complex journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations, applying expertise in compensation accounting, payroll processes, and system-to-ledger mappings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting policies.
- Researches, documents, and validates the end-to-end flow of compensation transactions across HR, payroll, compensation, and financial systems, resolving discrepancies and ensuring appropriate accounting treatment and financial reporting outcomes.
- Partners cross-functionally with Payroll, HR, Compensation, Technology, and Finance teams to investigate accounting issues, assess system changes, improve data quality, and ensure accurate and controlled financial processing.
- Enhances schedules, reconciliations, trackers, and supporting documentation to improve transparency, audit readiness, issue identification, and traceability of complex system-generated entries.
- Optimizes recurring close and compensation accounting workflows by strengthening controls, streamlining processes, improving review quality, and identifying opportunities for automation and operational efficiency.
- Provides subject matter expertise and support for broader department related to compensation accounting, payroll-related financial reporting, audits, control activities, and special projects, helping drive consistent application of accounting standards and firm policies.
- Lead cross functional projects and influence stakeholders at all organizational levels

What you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree is required with emphasis in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred (or relevant work experience).
- 7+ years of relevant work experience.
- Ability to prioritize and execute on multiple tasks/projects and independently adjust to changing priorities
- Advanced financial analysis, forecasting, and complex financial modeling skills, such as sensitivity analysis incorporating multiple variables and financial analysis of business decision alternatives
- Works effectively both independently and in a team environment
- Intermediate to advanced understanding of accounting processes and financial statements required
- Ability to influence associates and leadership up to the Executive Management level using verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Ability to summarize complex financial information and concepts and clearly communicate to executive-level Firm leadership
- Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint required including working ability to utilize pivot tables, advanced charting, advanced formulas, and conditional formatting
- Advanced project management skills
- CPA/International country equivalent or MBA preferred.
- Industry and best practice research skills preferred
- Proficiency using PeopleSoft Financials is a plus
Salary Information
Edward Jones' compensation and benefits package includes medical and prescription drug, dental, vision, voluntary benefits (such as accident, hospital indemnity, and critical illness), short- and long-term disability, basic life, and basic AD&D coverage. Short- and long-term disability, basic life, and basic AD&D coverage are provided at no cost to associates. Edward Jones offers a 401k retirement plan, and tax-advantaged accounts: health savings account, and flexible spending account. Edward Jones observes ten paid holidays and provides 15 days of vacation for new associates beginning on January 1 of each year, as well as sick time, personal days, and a paid day for volunteerism. Associates may be eligible for bonuses and profit sharing. All associates are eligible for the firm's Employee Assistance Program.
