This position will work 100% on-site in Southaven, Mississippi
The incumbent will work closely with the Mayo Clinic Compliance Officer, Site Compliance Officers, Compliance Analysts, and others to ensure compliance with Mayo Clinic Integrity and Compliance Program requirements, Federal and State Compliance regulations including EMTALA, FCPA, tax laws, FERPA, the Clery Act, Title IX, Export Controls, Americans with Disabilities and Mayo Clinic policies and procedures.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide indirect supervision to Compliance Analysts including coaching, training, project delegation and oversight, regular statuses, and scheduling
• Oversee investigations of Mayo Clinic employees relating to complaints of discrimination, patient bias
• Work directly with Human Resources to oversee and document complex Compliance investigations
• Respond timely and professionally to questions from Mayo Clinic employees and Mayo Clinic patients related to: ethical decisions, Code of Conduct, political activity, foreign corrupt practices act, workforce education, conflict resolution, retaliation, mutual respect, conflict negotiation.
• Resolve escalated situations involving employees and/or patients
• Consult with business proponents to consider Compliance risks related to organizational initiatives
• Auditing of institutional Emergency Department EMTALA investigations and transfers including auditing of medical record
• Investigate and document complex Compliance Hotline reports
• Investigate and document Title IX Sexual Misconduct reports
• Develop and present in-person Compliance training for Mayo Clinic employees
• Conduct on-site audits of various Mayo Clinic departments to assess compliance with Mayo Clinic policies
• Work directly with Mayo Clinic Leadership to monitor Confidential Business Information transmitted outside Mayo Clinic to enforce policy compliance while mitigating organizational risk
• Draft policies and oversee implementation of procedures
• Lead multi-disciplinary workgroups and projects
• Provide organizational guidance relating to Mayo Clinic record retention requirements
• Investigate and respond to complaints filed with regulatory agencies
• Report compliance concerns to affected patients, HHS, and other persons/entities as required by law
• Represent Compliance on institutional committees
• Other functions and projects as assigned
• Some travel may be required to other Mayo Clinic sites and/or training conferences
• Provide oversight of Mayo Clinic Office of International Travel program including physician coaching, workgroup membership, risk mitigation and leadership metrics
This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship/we will not sponsor or transfer a visa for this role. Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F1 STEM OPT extension program.
This position is a limited-tenure role intended to support the formation, launch, and stabilization of a new company and laboratory. As the organization matures, the role is expected to transition to a permanent infrastructure position within a separate company operating independently from Mayo Clinic Laboratories.
Responsibilities and schedules may vary as operational milestones are achieved with the anticipated post-launch schedules:
First Shift: 2:00 AM – 10:30 AM
Second Shift: 10:30 AM – 7:00 PM
Third shift: 7:00pm- 2:30am
Tuesday–Saturday
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required and a minimum of 5 years' experience in compliance, privacy, health information management, internal audit, human resources, legal, investigations, information security, or a related field.
Master’s or Juris Doctor degree preferred.
• Ability to maintain highest level of confidentiality
• Healthcare provider/payer experience
• Experience supervising exempt staff
• Knowledge of Federal and State regulations related to healthcare compliance
• Systems knowledge of EPIC, Lawson, Concur
• Effective training and presentation skills
• Complex investigation and audit experience
• Proficient in Excel, Word, and Power Point
• Demonstrated ability to set priorities and to respond to changing demands from multiple sources
• Ability to follow-through, meet regulatory deadlines, anticipate requirements, and build relationships
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups including attorneys, physicians, patients, allied health staff, researchers, and vendors
• Ability to lead in a team environment with minimal supervision
