Senior Accountant / Tax Preparer

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant / Tax Preparer to support tax preparation, bookkeeping, payroll, QuickBooks, and general accounting services for individual and business clients. The ideal candidate will have hands-on tax preparation experience, strong bookkeeping knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while working directly with clients.

Responsibilities

• Prepare federal and state individual income tax returns.
• Support bookkeeping and general accounting activities.
• Work with QuickBooks for accounting and bookkeeping functions.
• Assist with payroll processing and payroll tax reporting, as applicable.
• Communicate directly with individual and business clients.
• Manage multiple priorities and meet required deadlines.
• Maintain accurate and organized financial and tax records.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of professional tax preparation experience.
• Experience preparing federal and state individual income tax returns.
• Bookkeeping and general accounting experience.
• Hands-on QuickBooks experience.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Must be local to the Sparta, Wisconsin area and able to work onsite.
• Interest in a long-term accounting career.

Preferred:

• Experience preparing corporate, partnership, or other business tax returns.
• Experience with payroll processing and payroll tax reporting.
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
• CPA or Enrolled Agent certification is helpful but not required.
• Interest in pursuing Enrolled Agent certification in the future.
