Senior Accountant

RaceTrac Company Overview Job Description: Potbelly is seeking a Senior Accountant to support revenue accounting and payroll operations, with primary responsibility for point-of-sale (POS) transaction accounting. This role ensures the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of revenue and payroll-related financial data. The Senior Accountant will maintain disciplined reconciliation practices, prepare journal entries, and partner cross-functionally to ensure accurate financial reporting. This role also supports payroll accounting through preparation of journal entries and reconciliations. Responsibilities: Reconcile daily and monthly POS transaction activity to the general ledger. Prepare journal entries related to sales transactions, gift cards, loyalty redemptions, and related clearing accounts. Investigate and resolve discrepancies between POS systems and financial reporting outputs. Partner with IT and Operations to address data discrepancies and support system accuracy. Prepare payroll-related journal entries and reconcile payroll balance sheet accounts. Maintain accurate supporting schedules and documentation for assigned accounts. Support audit requests related to POS revenue and payroll accounting. Ensure timely close and reconciliation processes Strengthen documentation standards and internal control compliance within assigned areas.
