About the Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Finance team in Toronto. Reporting to the Controller, this role will support accounting, financial reporting, and consolidation activities for the Company's Canadian operations while contributing to external reporting requirements.

This hybrid position requires in-office presence in Toronto one to two days per week and collaboration with stakeholders in Canada and Brazil. The successful candidate will support close processes, reporting, audits, compliance activities, SAP S/4HANA implementation, and finance transformation initiatives.

The role is ideal for an accounting professional with strong technical expertise, a continuous improvement mindset, and an interest in technology, automation, and data analytics.

Key Responsibilities

Canadian Accounting and Close

• Manage accounting and reporting activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, payroll accounting, and month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
• Maintain accurate general ledger records and ensure timely completion of deliverables.

Consolidation and External Financial Reporting

• Support IFRS reporting, consolidations, intercompany reconciliations, eliminations, financial analysis, and disclosures.
• Partner with the finance team in Brazil and external providers to ensure timely reporting.

SAP S/4HANA Implementation and Systems Support

• Support SAP S/4HANA implementation, including testing, validation, reporting improvements, and process enhancements.
• Collaborate with finance, IT, and implementation partners.

Audit, Internal Controls, and Compliance

• Support audits, internal controls, and compliance with Company policies and reporting requirements.
• Maintain documentation supporting accounting and reporting activities.

Process Improvement, Technology, and Innovation

• Identify opportunities to streamline processes, strengthen controls, and improve reporting quality.
• Support automation, data analytics, AI-enabled tools, and other digital solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
• 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of accounting, financial statements, reconciliations, and reporting cycles.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.

Preferred

• CPA designation or active progress toward completion.
• Experience with IFRS reporting, consolidations, audits, and regulated reporting environments.
• Experience with SAP, preferably SAP S/4HANA, and exposure to ICFR or SOX processes.
• Experience with automation, Power BI, data analytics, Microsoft Copilot, AI-enabled tools, or similar technologies.
• Experience working with multinational teams; Brazil experience is an asset.
