Summary
Seeking a Senior Accountant with acute care hospital experience to support financial reporting, month-end close, revenue accounting, audits, cash management, and healthcare reimbursement activities. This role partners closely with clinical and operational leaders to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with GAAP standards.
Responsibilities
• Prepare journal entries, financial statements, and supporting schedules.
• Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
• Reconcile accounts including accounts receivable, inventory, fixed assets, cash, and balance sheet accounts.
• Record patient revenue adjustments, bad debt, contractual allowances, and credit balances.
• Manage fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules.
• Calculate and record accruals for labor, utilities, and operating expenses.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly management reports.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities.
• Monitor cash flow and banking activities.
• Coordinate internal and external audits.
• Maintain compliance with GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Track capitation revenue and payer reimbursements.
• Partner with clinical operations leadership to validate costs and payments.
• Lead, mentor, and support junior accounting staff.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business field.
• 3–5+ years of accounting experience.
• Acute care hospital accounting experience required.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• Experience with financial reporting, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Experience supporting audits and regulatory compliance.
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Broader healthcare accounting experience.
• Knowledge of hospital reimbursement methodologies.
• Familiarity with healthcare financial systems and reporting platforms.
• Knowledge of IFRS is a plus.
