About the Opportunity
The Senior Accountant, Fixed Assets & Financial Close is responsible for the accounting and reporting of the company's property, plant, and equipment assets, including capital projects and construction-in-progress, while also serving as a key contributor to the broader monthly, quarterly, and annual close process.
Essential Functions
- Record and properly classify capital expenditures related to new assets, major projects, and related equipment for the SPS Segment
- Maintain and update the fixed asset register with additions, transfers, and disposals
- Calculate and record monthly depreciation, depletion, and amortization entries in accordance with company policy and GAAP
- Perform monthly reconciliations between the fixed asset subledger and the general ledger
- Support capital project close-outs by reviewing costs and transitioning assets from construction-in-progress to in-service status
- Prepare fixed asset roll forwards and supporting schedules for internal reporting, financial statements, and external audits
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure costs are properly capitalized
- Prepare and record journal entries related to fixed assets, inventory and other assigned areas to support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
- Prepare and record month-end accrual of operating expenses and explain variances
- Perform any other duties as assigned by management to support the Accounting Department
- Reconcile inventory subledgers to the general ledger monthly
- Prepare journal entries related to inventory adjustments, reserves, and obsolescence
- Monitor inventory balances and investigate discrepancies, variances, and unusual transactions to ensure accuracy and timely resolution
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and responding to auditor requests
Experience/Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 4+ years of relevant accounting experience
- Public Accounting experience preferred
- CPA or CPA eligible
- Solid understanding of fixed asset accounting, capitalization, and depreciation principles
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to manage high volumes of data
- SAP experience is strongly preferred
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status
