Description and Requirements
Wilson is seeking experienced tax professionals to support individuals with federal and state income tax preparation during the upcoming tax season.In this role, you will work directly with customers to understand their tax situation, answer tax-related questions, review tax documents, and provide accurate guidance based on current tax laws and regulations. Depending on your experience and credentials, responsibilities may range from supporting tax return preparation to providing more complex tax guidance and review.
This is a seasonal opportunity for tax professionals who enjoy helping customers, working in a fast-paced environment, and applying their tax knowledge to a wide range of individual tax situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist customers with individual federal and state income tax questions.
- Review tax documents and customer-provided information for accuracy and completeness.
- Support the preparation and review of individual income tax returns.
- Research tax topics and explain tax concepts in clear, easy-to-understand language.
- Identify missing or inconsistent information and work with customers to resolve issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation throughout each customer interaction.
- Follow established tax, privacy, security, and quality standards.
- Use multiple systems and online resources while assisting customers.
- Provide professional and responsive customer service in a virtual environment.
- Meet established productivity, quality, attendance, and scheduling expectations.
Required Qualifications
- Experience preparing at least 30 completed individual federal and state income tax returns per tax season.
- Working knowledge of U.S. individual income tax concepts, forms, and filing requirements.
- Ability to schedule and work a minimum of 20 hours per week during the tax season.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to explain tax information clearly to customers with varying levels of tax knowledge.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify errors or missing information.
- Comfortable working with technology, web-based applications, and multiple systems simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, structured environment.
- Valid Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN), when required for assigned responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience preparing a broad range of individual income tax returns.
- Previous experience providing tax assistance in a remote or virtual environment.
- Experience working in a high-volume, customer-facing tax environment.
- Active Enrolled Agent (EA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or attorney credential is preferred for positions involving advanced tax guidance and review.
- Experience researching and interpreting federal and state tax regulations.
